After being passed over in the last two drafts, Sven Andrighetto caught the Canadiens' attention by putting up excellent offensive numbers in the QMJHL this year. The 20-year-old is a high-end talent that has excellent vision, creativity, and extremely quick hands. A slick playmaker, Andrighetto operates the power play by using his unpredictability and a natural ability to disguise what he will do with the puck.

Andrighetto is an excellent skater with explosive acceleration and excellent lateral movement at full speed. The stocky winger is difficult to knock off the puck and possesses a quick release with good power on his shots. He has added more bulk to his small frame, but will need more to play at the higher levels. He has top-six potential and is likely to start his pro career at the AHL level this coming season.

Sounds promising from hockeysfuture.

On Monday afternoon, the Habs announced the signing of their second player from last month's draft as Swiss-born winger Sven Andrighetto has signed his three year entry level contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Well... Maybe he's going to be a late bloomer, so to speak. Passed over in two drafts, hopefully he can make everyone eat crow and have a good season in Hamilton.

It's interesting, I read he put up more points in the CHL this year than anyone drafted in 2011 (which would have been his original draft year). That includes guys like Scheifele. I know the QMJHL is usually a higher scoring league, but still pretty cool considering where we picked him up at.

In 13 games in the AHL this season, Sven has put up 6 goals, 10 points while being a +4. Seems like a promising prospect too bad hes 5'9 182lbs

Yup, another small forward.

Although we might not be able to take on yet another small player, if he continues to impress he could become good trade bait.

Could be a player in 2014-2015, or something. Who knows who will be on the team at that point. Sven has got some hard work to put in, but I could see him in a Habs uniform in a few seasons if he continues to impress.

If he continues playing the way he has, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a serious push for a spot at next years training camp. Bournival did it even though his rookie year wasn't as impressive as Andrighettos so far. But he'll have to battle with guys like Thomas(another small forward) and Leblanc, both of whom are 1 and 2 years older then him.

Great pickup by MB and Timmins in the draft.

If in 2 years or so guys like DD, Gio and Briere are gone (the latter 2 will almost definitely be gone by then), I see no reason why he cant continue to progress and make the Habs.

Man, what a beauty! Incredible speed...

I'm glad to see he has adjusted well to the game in the American Hockey League!
