Well, it' the first time a goaltender is on the cover of EA's NHL hockey game.

I believe 2k had Mason one year, but it's the first time for EA. He wasn't my choice either, but he is a future HOFer, so it's a good choice imo.

HTB I'm super excited for the game to come out, been playing the demo. Pre-ordered and payed for mine a few weeks ago, picking it up the 10th of September.

Been playing it ever since i got it in my hands 10am on tuesday.

Pros in my opinion are the improved checking (Almost life like hits) i also really enjoy the enforcer role that plays a big part in this version, also EA always brings a great soundtrack to the game

Cons however. i would LOVEEE to see some improvment on the commentator's, yes i know theres nothing wrong with them, and why fix something if its not broken. but they should bring in some new voices, new "sayings" or even just add onto what they already have, i feel i've been listening to the same game since nhl 94.

also i would of liked to see some changes in the Cut-scenes or opening into the area skating onto the ice.

overall its a great game and the franchise for EA NHL is just getting bigger and better

I also picked up my reserved copy Tuesday morning. In my 2nd game i had a glitch, the screen froze and had to restart the game. Of course, the PS3 stated that it was improperly turned off and that it had to check to see if files were corrupted.

My biggest issue is getting use to the new "improved" backwards skating. Before if you quickly pressed the L2 and let go, your player would do 1/2 a turn, just enough to shake a defender, but now with a quick press, it does this odd spinorama and didn't do what i expected it to do.

i agree with the commentators, a lot of what they say is the same as the previous years, with minor differences. They did mention PK winning the norris, but as you said, it's pretty much the same thing since 94.

The fighting is much better, the hits are incredible, I like that you don't have to use the right stick to check(can if you want), can simply skate into a player.

One thing I've noticed since Tuesday, i can't poke check like I did in NHL13. A few changes, once i get use to them I'll probably like it, but for now I'm just getting use to the new pace and features. have to figure out the backwards skating, keep getting hit or give the puck away with the new spin-o-rama.

Maybe CBC should trade PJ Stock to EA sports.

I like the enforcer engine at first, but players jump in to defend teammates too much. I play very physical and often times (specifically with Bourque and Patches) ill make a big clean hit an be forced to drop the gloves when I dont want to. I've even made big hits with Markov and Gallagher and had to fight. Thats my main problem with the game though. I like that they let you choose your simulation and how often you play it to set your difficulty. I out mine as hard as it could go and had trouble scoring at first. I seem to have gotten the hang of it now and am on a 7 game win streak in my be a gm with 5 shutouts in that span! You have to actually make some hockey plays in this one (throwing pucks at the net, look for tips, rebounds, etc)

My current habs lineup looks like this:

Pacioretty-Plekanec-Bourque

Galchenyuk-Eller-Galagher

Winnik-Briere-Boyes

Moen-White-Prust

Parros

Gorges-Subban

Markov-Emelin

Hainsey-Diaz

Murray

Off season moves:

DD to ANA to Winnik

Gionta to BUF for a 2nd rd pick

Signed Boyes and Hainsey as free agents

Love the game.

I managed to draft a few gems, such as Hard hitting defenseman Madison Bowey and Powerforward Kerby Rychel. Both are playing with the big club at the moment. Leon Drasaitl, Elias Lindholm and Anthony Duclair are also in my system, but they're taking longer to develop than I expected...
