kinot-1
Yup,,,, it's that time of year again. It's time to predict the conference standings. Who will make the POs. and who will fall by the wayside. The Atlantic Division teams are: Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs. The Red Wings have moved from the Western Conference to the Eastern. The Metropolitan Division includes the three New York-area teams -- New York Rangers, New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils -- along with the Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes and Columbus Blue Jackets, who are joining the Red Wings in the move east. The new Central Division in the Western Conference includes the Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets, who are moving from the Eastern Conference to the Western. The new Pacific Division includes the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers The East consists of the Atlantic Division and the ( ) Metropolitan Division. The West consists of the Central and Pacific Divisions. Give it your best shot. And NO, there is not any $$$, medal, trophy, ribbons, or awards handed out. That prediction is quite ambitious. People have been singing the Rangers praises for several years now, but they continue to underachieve. Pittsburgh still looks to be the beasts of the East, and Montreal and the Islanders appear to be in ascendency. And Boston is still a very tough, physical, outfit. And the Red Wings figure to be a major factor, especially since they've moved from the tougher conference. They threw a major scare into the Blackhawks last season, and appear to be improved. St. Louis has a good team, but I just don't see anybody beating Chicago, both West and East. The Blackhawks are loaded. Not knocking your predictions or anything. It just struck me as being out there. But then, strange things have happened in the Stanley Cup Playoffs over the years, so you never know. You might be the one on the right path. I will agree with BigTed that there are so many really good teams in the Western Conference, and that's one reason the Red Wings will have a lot to say about who comes out of the East. habby4ever
BigTed3, on 14 Sept 2013 - 13:29, said: Boston, Montreal, Detroit, Toronto, Ottawa, Tampa, Florida, Buffalo Montreal 2nd 2. Montreal Canadiens - The Habs have much the same roster as last year, but the most important piece they picked up this past season was experience. A Calder nomination, a Norris trophy, a Division title and an early playoff exit are all valuable assets heading into this season. Defensively the Canadiens need to stay composed and play the game simpler. Killing penalties was an issue last season, however if the game against the Sabres (not the Bruins, yikes) was an foreshadowing, we can expect the Habs to be miles better than last year using the box instead of the diamond while a man short. As long as Price returns to form, the high scoring Canadiens will again find themselves in second place in the East.
Innis_Mor
Late to the game (what else is new) That Metropolitan Division is just really sad (give it to the Pens already, will ya) The only thing possibly sadder is the name of the Division ("Metropolitan" ) Like, didn't he used to play for the Habs?
