Why 2? Gallagher and Briere, we just need one... hopefully a big goal scorer... but I doubt it :/

Briere is not a RW. He's a much better centre than anything but he is passable at LW... at RW he's worse than RB, which is saying a lot IMHO.

I believe we have a true #2 RW (Gallagher) and a True #4 RW (Weise). If we resign Gio we have a #3. if not, we need to add a #3 and a #1.

Obviously if you got someone "as good as" Gallagher then you could do the 1a 1b route too.

well we gotta dump some bodies if we are going to pick up 2 RWs... I think we're going to have to live with Briere on the right side, there really isn't any room for him to play anywhere else

Pretty happy with this Scherbak kid. I like the choice a lot more than the McCarron pick last year, as he has a bit of size but also some skill to go with it. This is much more in line with the De La Rose and Lekhonen choices. I'd be interested in trading up tomorrow to get Brandon Lemieux midway through the second if he's still there, but I'm not sure what we'd give up since we don't have a wealth of picks this year. So far, a good day one for the Habs. Biggest splash MB can make now is seeing if he can wrestle Bogosian or Kane away from Winnipeg.

The lockout shortened season hurt us because, by his own admission, MB watched a lot of junior hockey & had "a lot of influence" on the picks. He said this year he watched very little Jr and is putting all of his faith in Timmins & co... which frankly, he should have done last year.

And I agree, Scherbak looks promising. I think being russian helped him drop a few places - its funny how some GMs like to lump all ethnic groups together. Ridiculous but good for us.

Part of me wishes we had taken a shot at Ho-Sang although he just sounds soooooo full of himself you have to think its very very likely he never fulfills his own prophecy, regardless of his skill level.

I think it takes a package of Nygren, something else and NyI's 5th to move up. I'm ok though if MTL stays put...This quote from Bergevin interested me;

He’s a guy with a big personality and confidence. Montreal is a different market and from what we’ve seen from him so far, we get the impression he’ll be able to handle that,” added Bergevin. “We also have a good group of Russian players who can help him out in Alexei Emelin and Andrei Markov. We know he’ll be surrounded by good people.

Sounds to me like he could be a guy who makes the team at age 18...That and based on his highlight reel...We don't have too many talents like him right now.

I think its more a case of Russian kids having that KHL option open to them that scares GM's away. I realize that other kids also have that option open to them, but it's more likely they only choose that route if the NHL one seems unlikely.

Pick up some chips on your way.

I really don't know enough about the prospects this year to speak intelligently about the picks being made.

:D

Unless MB makes a trade to move up,,, we don't pick until the 87th pick (or close to it). Just interested in where Lemieux's son goes.

What did we trade?

Thanks. I don't have a stream to watch. :(

we traded our 3rd and 4th

3rd round and 4th round that is ... if no other movement, our next pick is in the 5th round
