This is the biggest mental issue with the team, and it's been happening for a decade or so. I'm willing to accept that it might be confirmation bias by us, but I really don't feel like other teams do it as severely as we do.

I'm seeing fatigue, have seen it on PK over the last few games. Mental errors are usually not part of his game.

I watch a lot of games. Probably too many. Other teams that have similar point percentages as us don't have as much of a 'systemic' problem with bottom feeders.

I agree. That said, a part of me is willing to concede that this time might be a natural occurence that all teams might fall victim to. We've played so much hockey and won some hard games and I can see how they might subconsciously dial it in against a team so far down in the standings. We've all brought less than our own 'A game' to our own jobs when we expect things not to be as difficult as usual.

We've played so much hockey and won some hard games and I can see how they might subconsciously dial it in against a team so far down in the standings. We've all brought less than our own 'A game' to our own jobs when we expect things not to be as difficult as usual.

That sounds about right to me. In particular, we've lost some really painful close games. Ones that we could've gotten a point out of or maybe even won if the games lasted 65 minutes instead of 60.

Basically we just have super weird luck.
