HabsRuleForever
I could care less about his height & weight as long as he plays big & does the job. That is if he's allowed to.
roy_133
Well he's better than Murray, so it's an upgrade. Although if the D is healthy and he actually plays it will likely be at Tinordi/Beaulieu's expense.
ramcharger440
Great depth with this guy. once the injuries start as they always do he will fit in well

Ideally he'd replace Murray, but you just know Murray will continue to get his fire-drill minutes while Tinordi and Beaulieu sit.
ramcharger440
of course no one really knows what will happen but Tinordi and Beulieu will be a big part of this team next year
FirstStar
Don't know much about weaver. Think it pretty much seals soup's fate with the Habs. Been really impressed with the kids, Tinordi and Bo. But going into the post season, you want experience on the blueline. Unless you're a defensive team like the b's, who made it to the finals with rookie blue liners. We are not very good defensively, we give up way too many shots per game and inexperience could be our undoing. Biggest issue with weaver, is size. Another small dman on an already small team(think he's 5'9 or '10). No way Murray sits, not with how he's played on the PK and given out smaller players some confidence. Had we landed a gritty dman with size, we could afford to sit Murray. I know the anti Murray fans will say he has no bearing on our physicality, but when was the last time we went through a season of hockey without being manhandled by the b's and leafs? Granted the additions of parros (who finally had a fight since his 2nd concussion) and Prust allows us to stand up to physical teams. We don't usually go out looking for it, but it's nice to know that we can stand up for ourselves. Definitely gives our smaller skilled forwards confidence and ice to work with, while our tough players are keeping their goons busy. Rather not say anything about weavers play until I see him for myself. of course no one really knows what will happen but Tinordi and Beulieu will be a big part of this team next year That's my thinking as well. Murray was just a plug until our young ins were ready to step up. And also give us some added size and PK specialist.
Noob616
That's the thing though FS, talking about size, grit, etc is all tertiary. It's nice to have as a bonus but the guy has to actually be able to play first. It doesn't matter when you're evaluating the difference between a guy like Weaver who's a solid #5 and someone like Murray who is more a #8 or a 6-7 at best. We don't sit Gionta for Moen, but somehow it's OK to sit Diaz/Weaver for Murray? Skill trumps size, despite his size handicap Weaver is a superior player to Murray and it isn't close. It'll just further prove that Therrien can't evaluate talent if he continues to play Murray even with this acquisition. If we take Murray out of the lineup and run a third pairing of Tinordi-Weaver will there be a physicality problem? I don't see it, Tinordi is already an above average physical player and is big enough to do all the stuff out front of the net, and Weaver is a better defender than any one of our glut of bottom pairing guys at this point. I don't much care to play up to the Leafs and Bruins in a goon arms race. The Bruins are full of big mean guys that they've drafted and developed, Douglas Murray doesn't put the fear of God in Milan Lucic.

Guest mrsmarkov
When I heard about acquiring Weaver I was actually quite happy. I've watched him play a good amount of games and I tell ya he is a hard worker. I don't care that he isn't tall and that he's getting up there in the age department. He's a real tough guy and his experience will be quite valuable, not like useless Murray. I hope Weaver suits up tonight, he's a great addition to the team. I see him fitting well, defending our young. After all he was the papa panther taking care of his cubs. Can't wait to see him kill penalties, block shots, make hits and set up goals for our forwards. Over the games I've watched, I've noticed that he's really good at setting up goals. Markov is great at that, so it will be a bonus to have someone else who excels in that. Well Weaver have a great game and I hope panthers like eating coyotes.

Guest mrsmarkov
well we know why he was picked up now! looks like georges may be out for a bit Ya I figured that once I saw him injured on the bench. His hand does not look pretty, it looks really serious. I hate to say this, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's season ending or at least until the playoffs begin. Guest mrsmarkov
Weaver made a great save last night. Only highlight of the night for me. It got me excited, too bad that died down.
Manatee-X
I only stayed up to watch the first two periods last night (daylight savings + Atlantic Standard Time = really hard to sit up through a loss) but I thought that Weaver was one of the more noticible players on our roster in a good way. I'll get to see more of him once the games come back East, but so far I really like what he brings.

I never have missed a game regardless of the brutality . But you're right he was quite noticeable, not so much in his first game, but that's expected. He was great last night. Don't worry you didn't miss much other than the kid line being put back together and Vanek with Patches and Davey in the last ten minutes. Definitely a late move, but hopefully he goes back to those lines against the Bruins.
dwdemonwolf
Weaver has been solid. Makes good decisions with the puck and keeps it simple. Good work on the PK as well.

BeanCountingHab
He's been a nice pick up. If we plan on having a couple of kids make the jump on defense next year, he'd be a good, cheap 1 year veteran depth signing (significant upgrade over a guy like Bouillon or Murray). powerplay2009
He'd be a good insurance policy if we don't have a right handed D ready to go next year. If Pateryn or Nygren faulter or for some reason can't play, I like Weaver.
Noob616
Agreed, he'd be a guy I'd be willing to keep around. He really isn't even necessarily an insurance policy, I see him as a solid 5-fringe 4. I don't think there's a huge gap between Weaver and Gorges for example.
