The Canadiens team that has gone 10-2-1 over its last 13. The Habs have won three straight meetings with the Islanders, including a 1-0 victory Dec. 14 on Max Pacioretty's overtime goal.
Carey Price, who has a 1.32 goals-against average in the last three matchups with New York, will get the start in the second of a back-to-back set.
The Islanders could counter with Evgeni Nabokov, who is 2-0-2 with a 1.68 GAA over his last four starts. New York,is playing out the string with nearly a dozen rookies in its lineup.

One of the rookies in New York's lineup is center Ryan Strome, who was the fifth pick at the 2011 NHL Draft. On Wednesday, Strome was named to the American Hockey League's All-Rookie Team after scoring nine goals and 24 assists in 37 games for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Islanders are 17-11-5 with Strome in the lineup this season.

The question facing the Canadiens now is, will they have left wing Alex Galchenyuk when the playoffs begin? The top-six forward left the game Wednesday after two shifts in the first period due a lower-body injury, and he reportedly was spotted leaving United Center on crutches. Nathan Beaulieu played a solid game in Chicago: 16:29, a couple of blocked shots, plus-1.

Who's hot: Islanders center Frans Nielsen scored his 25th goal Tuesday. He has two goals in the past three games. … Canadiens left wing Thomas Vanek has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in his past seven games. Center David Desharnais has eight points (three goals, five assists) in his past seven.
Injury report: New York will be without forwards John Tavares (knee), Kyle Okposo (lower body) and defensemen Lubomir Visnovsky (concussion) and Brian Strait (hand). Forwards Michael Grabner (upper body) and Cal Clutterbuck (upper body) and defenseman Calvin de Haan (lower body) are questionable.
Montreal is expected to be without forwards Galchenyuk, Travis Moen (concussion).
and Brandon Prust (upper body). Center Lars Eller (flu) missed the game Wednesday. Alex Galchenyuk played two shifts in Chicago. Marian Hossa fell on Galchenyuk’s knee, and the kid left the United Center on crutches.

 This is a great GDT Kinot, one of my favourites. I love the little touches you added, very funny :).

Is this a trap game? Gosh I hope not. Habs please don't let the Isles play spoiler tonight.

I hope Chucky was able to brush off his injury. Optimistic thinking *crosses fingers*.

Go habs Go!

The Habs could clinch the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Division and home-ice advantage in the first round against the Bolts with a win of any kind against the Isles AND any a loss of any kind by Tampa Bay against Philadelphia. The Habs would also clinch the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic with an overtime or shootout loss AND a regulation loss by Tampa Bay.

7 of 12 forwards playing for the Isles tonight are rookies, and 3 of their D are rookies.

Perfect definition of a trap game. Only thing missing is the rookie goaltender.

OT,,,, Tony Marinaro saying that Gally-A will miss the last 2 games and "may" miss the first round.

Ugg. I dont like this news.

BUT

It sounds like while we might be out Galchenyuk, the bolts may be out Bishop...which I dont mind at all. Their backup? Anders Lindback (6-12-2) 3.11 GAA and .884 SV. The reports are Bishop has an elbow injury - so one would assume that even if he rushed back (like Bernier in TO) he wont be very effective.

Great............ <_<

Some word of advice Therrien. Yes, Murray is available to play tonight. No, that doesn't mean you have to place him in the lineup. Thanks for listening.

Yep. It's certainly far worse for Tampa Bay to lose Bishop than it is for us to lose Galchenyuk.

Markov, Murray, Emelin and Price in the lineup tonight. Ooops I forgot, I think Parros is in the lineup tonight too. At least that's the rumour. Wouldn't that be great?

Edit: not just a rumour...Parros is in fact in the lineup................................I wasn't under the impression we were playing wrestlers tonight and violent apes. I thought we were playing fresh meat preschoolers.

Really terrible line-up decisions from the coaching staff. Parros is what it is because he's the only healthy forward left, but to leave out Beaulieu and Tinordi is pretty ridiculous in my view. Beaulieu was excellent last game, and Tinordi has been better than Murray or Bouillon. The sad part is that it means Therrien is likely going to go into the playoffs with this set of 6 defencemen, leaving our two more talented youngsters in the press box and leaving us with a 2nd PP wave that includes Gorges or Bouillon or both.

Other questionable line-up decisions:

- Gionta and Gallagher playing the same line with Plekanec... two RW's playing together. Why not put Bournival or Briere on the LW?

- Weise playing the 3rd line while Bournival plays the 4th... again, why not put the more talented player on the more offensively talented line?

Perhaps Parros is in the line-up for this reason:

The New York Islanders announced Monday that forward Brett Gallant has been recalled under emergency conditions from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
Gallant, 25, leads the Sound Tigers with 245 penalty minutes, the fourth highest total in the AHL. The Summerside, PE, native also has two points (one goal, one assist) in 56 games this season.

The Isles don't have much of a line-up by any means, but what they do have are a ton of guys playing for jobs next year. That means the effort and hustle is going to be there on the other end. It'll be one of those games where it's key for us to stick to our system, not play down to their level, and try to score a goal or two early to deflate their energy.
