kinot-1
RULE YES THERE IS A RULE FOR THIS THREAD MY THREAD,, MY RULE THERE WILL BE NO MENTION OF THE "S" WORD IN ANY POSTS UNTIL THE GAME IS FINISHED THAT WORD THAT WE USE FOR MOVING DIRT FROM A DESIRED AREA. LET'S GET ON WITH IT. Only three NHL teams have climbed the mountain from a 3-0 series deficit to come out on top, most recently the 2010 Philadelphia Flyers against the Boston Bruins. Lightning defenseman Matt Carle was a member of that Flyers team. For the 31st time in their history, the Montreal Canadiens lead 3-0 in a Stanley Cup Playoff series. They've completed the 4 game wins in 22 of the 30 previous instances, and can become the first team in 2014 to advance out of the first round as they try to eliminate the Tampa Bay Lightning in what promises to be a party-like atmosphere at Bell Centre. "SELF EDITED FOR FOR BREAKING THE RULE" One year after winning the Northeast Division only to slump late in the regular season and get upset in the first round by the Ottawa Senators, the Canadiens are on the verge of roaring into the next round and buying themselves a significant period of rest. If they're already patting themselves on the back, there was no evidence of that publicly among the players. WE ALL KNOW WHAT THE BOLTS ARE CAPABLE OF AND COOPER IS A VERY GOOD COACH, SO WE CANNOT TAKE THEIR TEAM LIGHTLY OR BE THINKING AHEAD. “We understand that we haven’t done anything yet,” defenceman Josh Gorges told reporters in Brossard after practice. “You need to win four games to win a series and we all know the fourth win is always the hardest. We can’t get ahead of ourselves by any means because we still haven’t accomplished anything. Our focus has to be like it has been the first three games on playing the right way, playing a complete game and doing all the little things well. At the end of the day, we’ll look back on how the game went and move on from there.” SAID JON COOPER AFTER THE GAME: “(If) we play with the passion and determination we played with last night, I truly believe there’s really not much more wrong that can go against us,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper told reporters after practice. “I think at some point karma is going to come around. You just need it for one night. All of a sudden now—you’ve just got to win one. And then you win that one and everybody is back on a plane. Who knows what happens after that. “The one thing I really appreciate about our team is nobody is hanging their head,” he added. “Nobody is feeling sorry for themselves.” FROM THE TAMPA BAY TIMES "The Lightning was robbed! Tampa Bay was the victim of an awful call, a horrible call, a call that pretty much ends this series and, therefore, pretty much ends the season. Now the hole looks like this: Canadiens, with an assist from a friend in stripes, 3, Lightning 0" (OBVIOUSLY THE SCRIBE CAN'T READ THE RULE BOOK ) ABOUT TUESDAY'S GAME A heavy-metal show would be almost a whisper by comparison, with CBC recording 112 decibels in its Hockey Night in Canada broadcast booth. That’s eight decibels before the act of hearing becomes, literally, painful. Right off the opening faceoff, the puck went back to Subban in the Canadiens zone. He lofted a puck from his own faceoff circle to the Lightning blue line, where it bounced in between Tampa Bay defensemen Victor Hedman and Matthew Carle right to a rushing Bourque, who fired a shot past Anders Lindback at 0:11 to put Montreal ahead 1-0. It was the fastest playoff goal ever scored at Bell Centre. GO HABS GO!!!
habs_93
Beautiful! Great work, Kinot. Can't give an inch tomorrow. If Tampa thinks they have any chance, that could be extremely dangerous.

Guest mrsmarkov
Great GDT Kinot! I sense a close game coming ahead...... Tampa Bay was the victim of an awful call, a horrible call, a call that pretty much ends this series and, therefore, pretty much ends the season. Really? That's the moment in time when you actually realized your fate? God bless your delusions and good thing none of those Bolts are hanging their head....so to speak. Oh my...okay done being conceited now . This series isn't over yet...

MergenTatara
OK the golden opportunity is here to put the lights out on Tampa, and gain precious rest/recovery time waiting for the Bruins to finish their business. But can the team pull it off? That's my reaction but I hope the players can prove me wrong . It's understandable that after 3 hard fought games, the tired team needs a breather and will probably take their foot off the gas. Throw in complacency. So I have no problems hammering the nail in Tampa's backyard. But make sure Tampa doesn't revitalize into an energized beast. Anyway, go Habs go and all the best for the pivotal game! jennifer_rocket
So i guess there will be a game 5 after all. If anything, some would argue the officiating has been in our favor so far this series.
habs_93
If anything, some would argue the officiating has been in our favor so far this series. Well, considering the NHL has assigned two of the absolute worst in the business, including one who's been blatantly biased against PK Subban more than once, I don't think "some" will have much of an argument after tonight. If Subban gets less than two penalties tonight, I'll be shocked.
kinot-1
Thanks for the kudos, peeps. Much grass. If she gets the OK from her cardiologist, Ginette Reno is expected to sing the national anthem for the second straight game.
Guest
If anything, some would argue the officiating has been in our favor so far this series. It has been to some extent. Seems the NHL is trying to rectify that oversight.
vegasrick
Well, considering the NHL has assigned two of the absolute worst in the business, including one who's been blatantly biased against PK Subban more than once, I don't think "some" will have much of an argument after tonight. If Subban gets less than two penalties tonight, I'll be shocked. We said that same thing the other night when we had Peel and Rooney, and yes, they blew a call or two, but overall, the game was not decided by the refs. I don't think any game in the series was, TBH. I still hate all the calls that go against us, but that's because I'm a fan. However, I expect another game where the teams themselves decide the outcome at the end of the day. I also expect the Habs to take care of business tonight, but the Bolts to come out like there's no tomorrow, just as one would anticipate. This game could go either way, and depending on the bounces, could finish with a score that makes it look like it wasn't as close as it really was. PREDICTIONS: It will be a hard-fought battle. Gudas will be a goon. Bourque will simply continue to terrorize this opponent. Price will be stellar. Subban will further his quest of becoming a revelation at both ends of the ice. Gallagher will reach new levels of energy no one ever thought possible. And Patches finally breaks through, as if to say he's ready to explode in Round 2. Meanwhile, what appears to be a blanket on skates is actually Steven Stamkos trying to determine which end of the ice he's skating circles in. Lindback reminds TB fans why Bishop is #1 over there. The announcers still don't give the Habs the credit they deserve. And by the midway point of the third period, the Lightning bench are talking about where they will be in the in the long handshake lineup at center ice, while Jon Cooper realizes he won't even be able to concentrate on his golf swing because of the haunting memory of joking about the Canadiens blowing a 2-0 series lead. Habs close out the series with a 4-2 win in the loudest Bell Centre moment in its history.

vegasrick
meh....so the Habs have their work cut out for them. Won't be the first time. Habs still win 4-2 even though TB gets seven power plays to our one or two. Players and fans party all night. Chris Lee goes to his hotel room, gets drunk, and watches late night TV.
