ramcharger440
he was not that bad. but is that really enough reason to keep him up? we have some young lads we can try out who will be hungry and ready to go. I feel our leadership group has been doing quite well so far, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt to see what the endgame may or may not be. Give young players a chance... AND give Bourque a chance! Maybe this will wake him up a bit
jedimaas
Jess Rusnak on TSN radio, said (from MB) he was "sent down to find his game" , Interesting choice of words by MB. Eric Engels suggests that MB made the move to force MT's hand on lineup choices: "Can't help but wonder if Bergevin put Bourque on waivers to take him out of Therrien's mix. Bergevin and Rick Dudley don't decide who plays and who sits, but there have been some rumblings that neither of them were happy about Sekac being scratched for seven straight games, especially when it was in favor of Bourque." hatethosebruins
Not to be spreading rumors but there was one I saw that he said to a reporter he had trouble sleeping all summer, with headaches. He looked good before he got concussed by Orr, so it wouldn't surprise me if he has some post concussion issues. I always thought he was playing through injuries alot, alot of times he was, but the effort was definitely not there 100% of the time. Hope he can still find an NHL job eventually though. BigTed3
With Bowman being called up, the Habs aren't really saving any money by making the switch for Bourque... so essentially the teamhas decided they think they are better off with Prust/Weise on the 3rd line and Bowman rotating with Moen on the 4th than they were with Bourque on the 3rd, Prust/Weise on the 4th, and Moen/Bowman not playing. I'm not sure I agree with that. As for MB, he shouldn't have to continually be forcing his coach's hand, and in any case, the decision should never have been between Bourque and Sekac, it should have been between Moen and Prust and so on as to who got into the line-up. I think they're also trying to send a message too though. Hey we can always call him back up. I think its worth it to let this play out. I actually still like RB but I know he can be better too. Maybe he needs a little tough love, its gotta wake you up when no other team wanted you

Semantics
I feel kind of bad for Rene. It must be quite the life change to go from NHL veteran to the AHL. This ... definitely. At this stage of his career it's got to be tough, and so shortly after having a really good play-offs. I really feel for the guy. It would make my day if he started lighting it up in the AHL and got called back up at some juncture ... I'd always envisaged Bourque-Eller-Weise/Sekacs as a great third line for the Habs this season. I was at the Bell Centre for the final home game last play-offs, against the Rangers (Game 5, 7-4 win). Bourque's hatty was something to behold. It was like Christmas Bells -- a bunch of "pipe and in" (Pleks' goal too). Bouque's got one heavy snap/wrister. Don't feel bad, if a player can't put the effort in the sport he loves while making 2.5 million a year then he deserves to get demoted to the AHL. On the bright side he got his first assist in the AHL
FirstStar
Don't feel bad, if a player can't put the effort in the sport he loves while making 2.5 million a year then he deserves to get demoted to the AHL. On the bright side he got his first assist in the AHL Last seasons RB I agree, but since last season's playoffs, he has been skating, shooting, defending,etc... I actually saw an effort from him this season, but I don't know how many posts he hit this season or open nets he missed. I actually saw an honest effort from him this season, that was lacking last season. And he was always good on the other side of the puck. Regardless, something had to be done, nothing was happening on the Eller line. Sekac has really filled in nicely, always dangerous and Prust does a good job along the boards and at distracting dmen so Eller and Sekac can work their magic with little hassle. habsisme
Trade! For Bryan Allen who makes 3.5 million this season but is then a free agent. I already hear everyone complaining about adding another D but like the last trade, I LOVE this because we cleared more than 5 million dollars off of next years cap. Semantics
Wishing Bourque well !! We may be looking at (more than) a few Bourque goal highlights ... if he ends up on the left of Getzlaf and Perry. Dare I say .... "fire hydrant"?
