jedimaas
According to Hockey Inside Out, Markov is our nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. Well deserved. He wont win as its been a couple of years since his recovery but its a nice reminder of just how hard he had to work to get back to where he was once. Many felt like he'd never be the player he once was... and while he's lost a step, he still to be a smarter player now and certainly a hugely vital part of this team. ColRouleBleu
bahahaha! I totally missed that one last evening, "that Markov fan" doesn't look too impressed by his tape to tape pass to Helm leading to Detroit's 3rd goal
PuckPundit
On his way to becoming another Sergei Gonchar . One year into his 3 year deal, how's it looking so far ?

I think his deal looks fine. His minutes and situations just need to be managed more efficiently. That's on Therrien, not Andrei.
habsisme
On his way to becoming another Sergei Gonchar . One year into his 3 year deal, how's it looking so far ? Terrible deal. BUT we seem to be in a good cap situation and the reality is other than Petry, there's no one to spend money on. We can manage with this deal for 2 more years, and he does still have some value

He had another awesome season (11th in the NHL in points by a defensman, 6th in plus minus). DId he have a bad post season? Yes, no question. Was he alone in that dept? no. But what he was alone at was being a 36 year old playing the 13th most minutes in the nhl last year. Let that digest for a minute. 882 players played last year (about 600 of them regulars). Markov, at age 36 played more hockey than 869 of them. If we can resign Petry and shift things around (ideally with Beaulieu playing alongside PK and Markov-Petry as our second pairing) I think you'll see him be able to keep up his strong regular season play in the post season too. If we continue to play him 25 minutes a night for 82 games expect him to burn out once again by the post season.

NewfoundlandHab
Markov is certainly not a bad player, even at 36. If hos minutes get scaled back, I think he can be more than effective. However, given his age, it might be a good time to trade him now. He;s still got some value and if trading him means we get a top 6 goal scorer, IMO it is definitely worth it. We might miss out on a few good years from Markov, but we could get long term scoring help if we include him in a package.
