Manatee-X
He will be better than Allen in the long run. Right now it's too early to call Allen a bust. I wouldn't say that Allen is or will be a bust, mainly because expectations aren't really that high for him. There's a reason we got him for a guy playing in the AHL with a huge salary - Allen's a proven commodity, and that commodity is a lower-pairing D-man. I could see arguments for playing him over Beaulieu if we were in need of steady leadership or whatever, but that's not where we're at right now (especially after Gonchar, who has surprised me and has fit in quite well so far). In fact I'd say that the position that we're in right now - first in the league and with lots of stable veterans in our defence corps - is the perfect time for Beaulieu to be playing and making his mistakes. It's not like we're in such a precarious spot that he's going to single-handedly cost us a playoff berth. I'd much rather him get his knocks now with relatively little on the line than having him come in during the playoffs as an injury fill-in.
