NewfoundlandHab
Hoping he gets his shot this year. After next season, his contract becomes one way. That makes me believe that he is in the future plans. Perhaps the plan is to move on from Weaver after next season and have Greg up full time. He's done his time in the AHL and deserves his shot in the NHL. He's in an unfortunate spot having Tinman and Beau fighting for a spot with him. Most likely he's a #5-6 so replacing Weaver in the long term makes sense but it would have been nice for him to have had more time under his belt already. jennifer_rocket
I, too, really hope he receives some actual NHL playing time this year. I was disappointed that he never received a single minute of NHL game time in 2013-2014. Hopefully that changes this coming season and we can see what we have with Greg. js2
I still don't understand why management refuses to give him a chance. He seriously out-played both Tinordi and Beaulieu in Hamilton last season.

Hammer_9001
I still don't understand why management refuses to give him a chance. He seriously out-played both Tinordi and Beaulieu in Hamilton last season. He laid a pretty bad egg from what I saw in the Adirondack game the other day. Had a perfect chance to make a goal on a rebound, but was instead coasting towards the net. Also got a dumb, blantant elbowing call that cost the game another goal. I'd be far more inclinded towards Tinordi if he can get some better puck handling skills.

BigTed3
Recalled today, will join the team in Detroit A little bit of a surprise, but I wonder if this means they've called up Pateryn to be the 7th defenceman and they didn't want to hinder Tinordi's development by having him sit in the press box... to me, this indicates we're likely to see Weaver and Gilbert both in next game. BigTed3
That or if he's to play, they wanted someone playing on the right side, not the left I'd find that odd though, because Therrien has been very quick to shuffle most of his D men from side to side. Weaver and Gllbert played as a pairing at one point. Emelin played the last two seasons on the right. Gonchar's played the right, as have Beaulieu and Tinordi... jedimaas
That or if he's to play, they wanted someone playing on the right side, not the left But he, weaver and gilbert all play right - so if Gonchar is out & they wanted natural L/R they should have called up tinordi, no? Still, im happy he gets a chance - lets hope, unlike last year - he actually gets to play this year after being called up.

The only way I can see him being given a chance to play is if a trade of one of Weaver or Gilbert happens... not likely IMO.
Habberwacky
We have a few easier games coming up (although those seem to kill us) and i could see him getting a look against Ottawa, Florida or Columbus if Gonchar is still out. jedimaas
ok, only a few games but someone tell me how he's been worse than weaver, or last year murray and boullion? He should have had this chance a LONG time ago. Looks like he's going to be solid bottom pairing dman already and he's played a total of 6 NHL games. Definitely not worse, should have had a chance but didn't in the Therrien/Bergevin plan for whatever reason. He also seems to have a great point shot. Raw rookie vs. AHL caliber Murray or very old Soup, you know what Therrien likes. However to your point you are bang on & imagine him already having a year's NHL experience. ramcharger440
he sure looks ready to me. the little errors he has made were mostly at the beginning of the first game, I think he is hitting his stride now.
Habberwacky
I like what he has done so far. Panics with the puck at times and needs to learn to take a hit and stay controlled, but nothing he has done has cost us a goal. as long as he can keep the pressure off and keep it simple he will be okay. Not sure he sticks now, but if he continues to get big minutes in Hamilton he may be ready next year.
BigTed3
Solid play thus far. Has done better than Tinordi. Reasonably sound (when not paired with Tinordi) defensively and he's thrown out a few big hits too. I won't be disappointed to see him finish the year here as a #6-7 guy. We need to develop someone else on the right side.

CaptWelly
I think he will become a solid defensive d-man. He has size not flashy but solid and what we will need moving forward.
