habs_93
They seem to win a lot of lotteries. The only problem is you need to win hockey games. This team is not out of the woods yet, and with all the calls for the removal of Lowe and MacTavish. it will only get worse if they don't step up and get this team going with MacDavid. This will be great for the fans, but I believe management has no more excuses. The first step now is who they decide on for a coach. Unless MacDavid can play defence or net the Oilers still have some holes to fill. I'm just glad Boston lost.
Graeme-1
Well if there's any team that could turn "the next Crosby" into "the next Daigle" it's Edmonton. I was on the edge of my seat when Toronto was coming up (that would have sucked). All things considered, I'm okay with Edmonton. The teams I really didn't want to win: * Buffalo: why reward (even more than Eichel) the best tanking job wince Lemieux? * Toronto: they are in our division, a major rival, and Canadian media spends enough time covering that team as it is without an actual star * Boston: similar reasons (other than the last), plus they're actually pretty good already * Los Angeles: they had a moderately bad year, but are still a strong team: McDavid may make them unbeatable Edmonton's okay: they aren't a rival, are in the west, and as a bonus: Bettman must hate this (of all the teams, Edmonton was probably his last preference). My only complaint is they've already gotten so many top picks it feels a bit unfair. But all things considered, it could have been worse.
PuckPundit
The McDavid lottery? Simply unbelievable ! Craig MacTavish must be laughing himself to the loo. Pity Buffalo. All for nothing. But Eichel is still not a bad grab. Leafs? Can now put the McDavid hopes to rest.
Habberwacky
I think some trades will be happening MacT's tone changed a little in his TSN interview yesterday, but the inept leadership is evident in the hiring of Eakin's and quite a few other decisions. I hope Bergevin gets in line and takes a number as McDavid is only going to provide this group a false sense of security while they make some bad decisions about the teams future. They have been doing it for ten years and getting McDavid isn't going to change that.

Habberwacky
Oiler fans are happy to see Lowe moved out of hockey ops. We could use a Hall upfront and have some of the assets the Oilers are looking for. I think we have the depth on defence and the forward experience the OIl are looking for and Chiarelli knows our players. He may want to do business now that he is in the west. Habberwacky
Well it was the last day of the Oiler's prospect camp and so they hold a 4 on 4 scrimmage. I decided to check out this Connor kid and he doesn't really stand out too much as far as speed or effort, but at the end of the game he's got 5 of his teams 8 goals, and much like some other former Oiler's only needs a couple of seconds with the puck to cause major damage. Although I haven't been to an Oiler's camp since Tikanen was drafted, he clearly reminds me of what you would see with a Gretzky or Lemieux floating around like not much is happenning untl you look at the score sheet. He made some sick moves in close and while there wasn't really any contact the dexterity with the puck was at a very high level. I look forward to watching him with the big boys in September. Nurse looks like he is NHL ready , a bit of a beast in comparing his strength and speed but this isn't a place to do too much evaluating as it was more of a shinny atmosphere.
