#Habs Bergevin on last roster cut to get to 23: "I haven't told the player yet and I'm still working on something."

'Working on something' makes you think trade, which makes you think Moen. I think that Bergevin has done a good job shaping the roster this preseason (trading a goalie, letting Bouillon go), and I think that sending Moen off somewhere where he'd have a better chance to play would be icing on the cake.

I agree that "working on something" definitely sounds like a trade - and the safe money would be on Moen - but it will be interesting to see if he (MB) decides its time to do something big (ie someone higher up in the ranks or a package of players). Next day or 2 should be interesting.

call it a bad feeling, but i think if we move Moen were sending something along with him . Draft pick, prospect, something. I don't tihnk were going to find a team that will say " yes give us that Travis Moen" and it won't cost us anything.

I don't know, he's not making THAT much money. There are teams who are really lacking in depth. I mean we wouldn't get much for him either but it could work.

The interesting thing is that they haven't told the player yet... does that mean if Moen gets trade DLR stays?? I would think Tangradi would be our depth guy instead.... BUT say we were trading Bourque... then maybe keeping DLR makes sense. I don't know just a thought.

IMO, if trading Moen for a low draft pick or an insignificant piece improves the team you do it. He's worth nothing sitting in the press box for most of the season.

Really impressed with the way MB is trimming this roster down. He's made all the right moves thus far... one more to go.

Yup, he's had an excellent offseason so far. And realistically, even if he can't move Moen yet, it's not the end of the world. He's still quality depth for the 4th line who doesn't hurt you and can sit in the press box. It would just be nice to get his contract off the books and to give Travis an opportunity where he can play more somewhere else.
