Boys hit the road for 9 days to face the hated Bruins first. Here's a couple facts about our season so far.

The Habs needed 21 games to hit 15 wins this season, contrasted to a year ago when it took the team 27 to hit the same early-season milestone.

The bruins game could see the debut of Bryan Allen, whom BTW use to be Marc Bergevin former teammate.

Now 700 career NHL games played by Tomas Plekanec, as the Czech centerman hit the milestone Thursday night at the Bell Centre. Drafted by the Habs 71st overall in 2001, Plekanec has spent his entire career in Montreal.

Did you know that only one team has registered a win this season when allowing a goal to the visiting Blues? Prior to Thursday’s defeat in Montreal, the Blues’ only other road losses came in a trio of shutouts.

Who says we can't beat elite teams?

Here's hoping we see a lot of this in Boston

Good one HTL, TSN is reporting that Tokes will get the start against the ruins. Unconfirmed as of yet.

Ruins, as usual don't have a clue as to who will start tomorrow, but toooka will start tonight against the Jackets.

That's somewhat surprising. Is Price not 100%?

I have full confidence in the kid, but that would be unusual not to go with your #1 after an off day.

I'm not surprised, I have confidence in Tokes, and the ruins are down 2 of their top 4 D-men ,and marshand is day to day.

i was wrong about tooooka playing tonight, the other guy,,, you know, the loser last time they played us,,, gets the start tonight.

According to HI/O....

Coach Michel Therrien confirmed that Carey Price will start in goal against the Bruins, while Tokarski will start against the Rangers

Canadiens vs. Bruins preview

PAT HICKEY
MONTREAL GAZETTE

Habs have upper hand: Is there something about the Bruins that brings out the best in the Canadiens? Or is there something about the Canadiens that brings out the worst in the Bruins? Whatever it is, Montreal has enjoyed the upper hand in this rivalry both in the regular season and the playoffs. The Canadiens are 2-0 against Boston this season, but both of those wins were at the Bell Centre, and Saturday’s game is the Canadiens’ first visit to the TD Garden since they bumped the Bruins from the playoffs last season.

Power to the Max: The Canadiens’ leading goal-scorer against the Bruins this season has been Max Pacioretty. He had a power-play goal in a 6-4 win on Oct. 16 and scored twice in a 5-1 win on Nov. 13. Pacioretty also scored twice Thursday in the Canadiens’ 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues at the Bell Centre and has 10 goals on the season. At this point last year, Pacioretty had missed nine games with an injury and had scored only two goals. He finished the season with 39 goals.

Who’s in goal? Carey Price will be in goal for the Canadiens, but Boston coachClaude Julien might end up flipping a coin to decide on his starter. Tuukka Raskstarted the first game this season against Montreal and gave up five goals to drop his career record against the Canadiens to 3-12-3. Julien went with Niklas Svedberg in the second game against the Canadiens and he also gave up five goals. The betting is that Rask will get a chance to turn things around.

Back-to-back-to-back: If Boston is playing Montreal, it must be the tail end of a back-to-back set for the Bruins. Julien has been moaning about the schedule, which has the Bruins playing all four games against the Canadiens this season as the second half of a back-to-back series. This time around, the Canadiens will be tucked away in their Boston hotel while the Bruins are flying back from Columbus after playing the Blue Jackets Friday night. The Canadiens are on the front end of a back-to-back series because they play the Rangers Sunday night in New York (7 p.m., CITY, RDS, TSN Radio 690). Dustin Tokarski will start in goal for the Canadiens against the Rangers. Back-to-back games don’t seem to concern the Canadiens. Michel Therrien’s crew is 6-2 in back-to-back games this season but — take note of this, Claude — Montreal is 4-0 in second games and all four of those games have been on the road.

Roster updates: Newly acquired defenceman Bryan Allen will join the Canadiens in Boston and will be available to play. Mike Weaver returned Thursday after missing one game with an upper-body injury, and that means the only injured Canadiens player is Michaël Bournival, who is out with bad shoulder. DefencemenZdeno Chara (knee), Adam McQuaid (broken thumb) and David Warsofsky (groin) are definitely out for Boston, while pesky Brad Marchand is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. Marchand practised Thursday, but was ruled out of the Columbus game.

I started my session thinking about Blake Geoffrion this morning who i read turned to scouting for the Blue Jackets who had a lead and lost it to the Booins last night.

This is a Must Win for the boys. No excuses. The Booins looked terrible in the first two periods and we should own the third.

I'm figuring that Allen gets some time, but what do I know?

Forget about the standings and win a game!

Tough to do when it's a division game.

It's a 4-point game. Not only would a Habs victory earn 2 valuable points but it will take away 2 potential points from Boston. The Bruins are on the bubble (with respect to Net Losses) right now and so every point that slips through their grasp are points they won't have later if and when things get tighter.

A 4-point swing would also put that much more distance between us and them, making it harder for them to catch us. We need to take advantage of Chara's absence.

Besides, a W will secure us the season series. :)

Always wonderful to see Lucic or any of the Bruins for that matter take a blow to their giant egos.

MT has Allen-Weaver as his third D pairing tonight and Beaulieu-Gilbert as his 4th, which means Gilbert may sit or may play as the 7th D man. Really sad assessment by Therrien to sit two of his best possession and puck-moving D men in favor of a defensive lug. Habs now have the oldest blue line in the NHL, made even older by sitting the guys he's chosen to sit. For my money, Allen should be one of the guys sitting, and the other should be Gonchar and Weaver on a rotating basis. Gilbert's done nothing to deserve being benched.

Addendum: Therrien noting that Allen will definitely play tonight and that the team will likely go 7 D...

Tim Peel and Frederick L'Ecuyer are the refs, so this should be fun. If you thought the St-gamel ref was biased against Gallagher, Tim Peel and Fred L'Ecuyer are two of the guys who seem to go out of their way to call penalties on us.

looking forward to this one. Never a bad game with these teams. Ihave always liked the intensity in these games and I think tonight may signify a changing of the guard as the Bruins may be heading in the opposite direction. With Allen on the backend it will help to keep Luccic's stick on the ice.

As for Gilbert management might be seeing what quite a few teams have found before us. He can be very tentative at times and have some bad giveaways. He couldn't stick with Florida or Edmonton and that is not a good sign.

Gilbert makes a pretty good first pass and his possession numbers support the idea that he's been one of our better defencemen. Edmonton traded him straight-up for another D man, so it's not that he was a cast-off and when Gilbert left Florida, he was rumored to have been a fairly sought-after free agent, coming off a very good year. The WIngs were one of the teams looking at trying to get him, and they're usually a pretty good judge of reliable veterans.

I agree and still believe he needs more time and a longer look. If he was indeed brought in to help the power play he wasn't really given much opportunity in that situation. I personally still value him higher than Mike Weaver.
