BigTed3
Wow. Pens should have been called for a penalty. Letang just hit Plekanec's stick and broke it... should have been an automatic penalty. Just wow.
FirstStar
So for the final 2 mins, pens have the man advantage. What a great opportunity for the pens.

habs_93
All the non-calls on Pittsburgh were totally fine, though. It's Pittsburgh, after all!

Pleks went to stick tap/stick check him as he went by VERY lightly and his stick broke.

habs_93
What a great game by Marc Joanette and Eric Furlatt. 4 PPs for each team, and the right team won. Isn't it fantastic watching games called by the best officials in the world?

Not what it looked like in real time, but haven't seen a replay. Looked like Letang was the one who tapped Plekanec's stick and broke it... could be wrong though, obviously. IF anything Pleks is lucky he didn't get called for discarding his stick towards the puck after it broke. He kind of flung it at the puck carrier

None of that boarding and hitting from behind stuff they were rightly ignoring from the Penguins in the rest of the game.

BigTed3
Going to point out though that the Habs win if any of the three happen: 1. Pacioretty hits the open net chance he had 2. Despres and Downie get majors for their hits from behind/ headshots, as they deserved. 3. Therrien doesn't get out-coached and allow Malkin to score on his 4th line despite having last change. Well I agree they need to call those too and I wasn't suggesting they needed to call it, just that if there was a penalty on that play that would have been it. You spend enough time talking about ticky tack penalties you want called on opposing teams that I'm surprised to see you making that argument anyway
habs_93
Well, it won't be easy accepting that one point from this game, because we had one more power play than Pittsburgh in regulation, which clearly and indisputably means the officials were preferential to us and thus we didn't deserve it. But knowing that the face of the NHL, Sidney Crosby, got the winning goal makes it a little easier.

We don't get dominated at 5 on 5 again. I mean, I agree the 1 hit by Downie should have been called big time, especially with his reputation. Less sure on the other but the issue here is that we have been getting shellacked 5 on 5 and we're absolutely lucky to get the point we did. This is becoming a more painful trend. Pacioretty not finishing sucked but the counter is that Pittsburgh didn't cash on a ton of chances they had and if we want to play that game, they had more chances. habs_93
When was the last time we had a 5 on 3,,,,,,,when was the last time we had a PP in OT? Not during this season. But we've had 3 against. 1 March 2014 against Toronto. Bernier, delay of game for freezing the puck at the hashmarks. http://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/en/recap?id=2013020909 As for 5-on-3s, 9 December 2014 against Vancouver. There's no easy way to tell how many 5-on-3s against a team has had, but 5-on-3s for is available on the NHL's stats pages. We've had 3 all year, tied for 26th in the league. Tampa's had 12 (#1), Pittsburgh's had 9, or 10 if the data hasn't been updated yet.
