Guest habs1952
When was the last time we had a 5 on 3,,,,,,,when was the last time we had a PP in OT? When was the last time we threw a body check instead of just skating by with just a poke check. Outhit 39 - 18 and I honestly don't know where our 18 hits came from. I know hits aren't everything in hockey but geez, when you let the other team freewheel it doesn't bode well for the outcome to be in your favour. BigTed3
4. We don't get dominated at 5 on 5 again. I mean, I agree the 1 hit by Downie should have been called big time, especially with his reputation. Less sure on the other but the issue here is that we have been getting shellacked 5 on 5 and we're absolutely lucky to get the point we did. This is becoming a more painful trend. Pacioretty not finishing sucked but the counter is that Pittsburgh didn't cash on a ton of chances they had and if we want to play that game, they had more chances. Not sure I'd say we were dominated 5v5.... Pittsburgh was the better team, but we had a lot of guys with decent possession numbers tonight (Subban, Markov, Beaulieu, Plekanec, Weise, DD, Bournival were all 50% or better). In fact, if you take out shifts with Gilbert and Emelin on, we actually won the possession battle with the other 4 guys on the ice. And even then, half of the absolute difference in Corsi came in OT... I didn't think we were outplayed that badly to be honest. We had a couple of bad shifts when the Pens managed to get Malkin out against our 4th line and a couple of breakdowns from the Eller line. But Plekanec's line outplayed Crosby's and Galchenyuk's line had some good chances of their own.

Yes, a majority of the problem was the lower tier guys but it's been that way forever and it's not been corrected. I mean, the fact that we see positives in another 45ish % puck possession game is somewhat of a testament to how bad it's getting. I'm getting demoralized with what I see. Awful PP, mediocre - bad puck possession and an extreme reliance on goaltending. I feel like it's back to where we were in Therrien's first tenure except with better players. Truth be told, I thought Pittsbugh looked bad, we just looked worse to me. It was a sloppy game.
Guest archey
Except for the fact that my finger is still swollen to twice the normal size from that cut on Aug 8 and I'm not even thinking about shooting or roping there was one positive factor in the game which was that Pleks showed up as captain material...to my mind......even though Prust fell off it with his two blatant offsides at pretty awful times considering. By the way: How's everybody's coffee? I messed up my order and I'm skipping the best dark roast which I alternate with French roast throughout the day. Coffee and chickory after 3:30.
