MB had better know something we don't.

DSP,,, 5G and 53 hits in 12 GP, last years POs.

Know nothing about this kid other then the stats posted in here so i'll assume MB knows something we don't. Wait and see attitude for me.

Got this quick analysis from a member on the Ducks borad

"DSP is a power forward with decent hands. He has to be reminded to hit every shift and sometimes he can be a little slow, having said that, he popped out 5 goals in the last playoff run. I believe under the scrutiny of 15 hockey newspapers in Canada, he'll be more willing to show what he's really made of."

I get the sense they (the Habs scouts) feel he can be another brendan gallagher (a lot heavier and a little taller). Again, something Im totally down for and i have no problem having him in our roster - but - why did it take Sekac to acquire him? thats what I dont understand.

Some positives...

Sekac > DSP offensively No guarantees who will be more productive
DSP > Sekac physically DSP will always be more physical
DSP > Sekac contractually DSP RFA and Sekac only one year left

Our weakness is on RW and DSP happens to be a right winger.

Physical playoff performer,,,,hmmm i think we could use a little more of that.

As i mentioned,,,,i'll wait and see.

But of course, in the most important metric, which can't be quantified—grit? Smith-Pelly's from Scarborough! So, we clearly won this trade!

What's odd here is that I found that Sekac was already one of our most gritty forwards. I'm not saying that because he was a hit machine or anything like that, but nobody can say that the guy didn't go to the net or that he wasn't exceptionally strong on the puck.

Anaheim's worst possession forward.

Well that's not performance!

Our weakness is on RW and DSP happens to be a right winger.

That's a good point, too.

DSP's goals

Plays late in the game with his team trailing.

Plays on the PP.

Called on in the SO

All this on a top League team.

Are we sure we're talking about a 4th liner here??

Hey guys, I'm from the Ducks board...It sounds like Jiri is good on the boards, quick with good puck possesion, that's exactly what we needed. DSP hits like a trash truck, and has great hands but he's a little slower. He WILL crash the net and whoever he hits is going to feel it for several days. He's a good guy, no off ice issues and netted 5 goals in our last playoff run. He has a very quick wrist shot release and he's acurrate. He doesn't take a lot of penalties either...he's a clean checker.

So far this looks like a pretty good step up for both of us. I wonder how DSP will react to the 15 hockey papers covering him. He won't regress for sure...I think he'll step up his game. We've used him on our top line when playing a gritty team. I also wonder how Jiri will respond with no preassure and driving around all year in shorts with the top down.

It looks to be a real nice move for both teams. Good luck and always beat the Kings!

My thoughts exactly.

Can say how much I hate Therrien without being modded today?

MT didn't make the trade and for all we know was instructed to scratch Cakes because of being shopped by MB.

Hello & welcome. We really like Sekac here, he has great hands & size. He's been snake bitten by hitting several posts & crossbars & our coach hasn't played him for his own reasons.

Thanks for that. Not many of us knew what to expect from the kid. Good to hear. Hope Cakes plays well for you guys. He shows a lot of promise.

He's not a 4th liner! When games get nasty and ugly he's the go to guy. The Ducks usually use puck possesion and speed. The Ducks are gonna miss him.

Once again,,,,thanks for clearing that up.

I know, but I blame him for not really giving him a proper chance. MT had yet to test Sekac on the top line. But he was never going to because, well...Therrien. So I blame him for making it easier for MB to trade him. Had he been played properly I think his true value would have been realized. I honestly think that MT is the worst thing that could have possibly happened to this team. Even worse than Gomez! I might saying things out of emotion right now, but that is only because I wanted the best for our team. It seems like we take one step forward and two steps back.
