Sadly, the Habs deserved to lose tonight. They suffered the same old problems that have plagued them all season:

- complete lack of offence

- ineffective special teams play

- poor breakouts

- untimely penalties

Obviously not a bad season, but this team wasn't as good as its record indicated, and a large percentage of their problems come down to weak coaching. Hopefully MB addresses that in the coming weeks.

It was gross.

I feel worst for the guy that called in a whole bunch of favours from co-workers to watch the game.

Thank You Habs for a decent season.

It's a pity the puck didn't bounce our way this series. We were the better team but the Gods said otherwise.

Congrats Tampa. You won this one but your luck has to be close to the end of it's rope. Can't see you advance past next round.

And with that,,,,,hockey is now over for me. Don't care who wins the Cup at this point.

Offseasons game plan:

Back up goaltender, keep or pass on Tokes.

Sign Petry!!!!!!

Drop weaver, gonch and Co.

Get scoring and PP specialist added to coaching staff.

Here's a thought... Last time out PP was decent, was when Muller was here.... Throw as much money at him as possible.

I was hoping it would work again. :(

Shame the NHL got what it wanted. Time to cheer for every other team remaining.

I actually don't hate Tampa that much. They have some dirty players (Coburn, Morrow, Bishop, and an underrated in this category is Stamkos), but they're a good team with skill and speed, and Cooper is extremely likeable. I don't hate them any more than the other teams left in the East. I'll be cheering Chicago here on in, but Tampa isn't as bad as Ottawa, Boston, or Philly by any means.

<SIGH>

Well, What more could one expect when all your team can do is try to leave their own zone with stretch passes and hail Marys even when the Bolts have 4 players back waiting for it. The players gave their best effort under a terrible 'give up possession' system.

Ditto...Hawks all the way.

I I think that team is fairly disgusting in almost all respects, really. Certainly with regards to their dirty play, which people don't seem to notice for whatever reason. People are obviously welcome to like Cooper, but I'm not enamoured. You mentioned a few of their clearly dirty players, but it seems systemic to me, which gives me an impression about him. In particular, though, their diving. I don't hate diving as much as other people, but what I do have a serious problem with is hypocrisy. It's quite rich for anyone to try to smear us as being a "diver" team, or to impugn the reputation of some of our players when Tampa's got Bishop, Johnson, and Stamkos, who are some of the worst in the league in that regard. Something, again, nobody wants to talk about, because Tampa's a hip pick.

I could rant for a while about the advantages Tampa has, or about why it's in our division at all, but that's for another day. Everything we've experienced with that team over the last few seasons, however, has made me less than enthusiastic about waving the Atlantic division flag and sending well wishes. Tampa's season can't end quick enough for my tastes. It's a shame it likely won't be as quick and painful as it deserves.

As a hab fan since 1977 I can say that I always think there is a chance every year! I like what MB has done so far but there is still work to do. At the start of last years season he said this team is 3 or 4 yrs from potential. Last years conference finals just teased us with what these kids can do. Now its time to relax and not throw the tv on the floor! Playoffs can quickly bring your weakness to the surface!!

Season stats are nice but mean nothing!!! Teams start to play around the 60th game mark! Ever wonder why the Leafs win before xmas and yr in yr out they crash after and say" what happen we were so good "? Teams start playing playoff hockey for playoff position. With this said, I do so wish MB would change direction in the style of play the boys are playing!! I scream at this trapping, red line lock, diamond 5 defense our boys play!! Yes we need scoring but when I see chucky absolutely lost or maybe scared to skate forward all playoffs, something has to be wrong. He is an offensive wonder who is not being played properly. Maybe its youth? maybe its not? remember Sekac?? MB had to get rid of him cause MT woundnt play him(however neither is anaheim}? I have been amazed at anaheim this playoff. this team keeps coming and coming at you!!! This is what i see for our boys!! They say MT is stuck in his ways of a defense first? I read that got him fired in pittsburgh?? So even with a 110 season. Lets find a run and gun system. We have the best goalie in the world back there. Imagine the green light on subban or beaulieu(remember him in jr) or chucky or max or or or!!! With all this said, I know MT will likely be back. With all the coaching talent available this off season I just wish we could give any one of them a pass on the language and the opportunity to learn it after they become the next coach. If that is a no way in hell, then we continue to be handicapped in the coaching pool........hartley is gone, oh crawford is still around........geez MT is not bad afterall....

I VOTE BABCOCK OR McCELLAN!!! "turn the boys loose"

Well, the hungrier team won.

I knew it all along, they were the most overrated first place finish ever.

You know what? I always believe the "loser" point system distorts the standings. Remove the "loser points" and you'll get a more accurate picture. Based on playoff progression/elimination, Habs are approximately the 6th "best" team. Tallies fairly well with NHL Power Rankings for much of this season despite the Habs leading the League until March.

I suppose I should put away my Habs gear tomorrow, and take the flag off the car. drool.gif

Are you going to drink tonight and tomorrow  ?

If MB doesn't fire MT, after next season both of them will be looking for a job, MARK MY WORDS.........

Geoff Molson doesn't agree with you ;) .

MT's presser:

Paraphrasing,,,,,,," we were mentally and physically drained"

I know.

What if it turned out that the entirety of foreign relations between the US and Canada WAS based on the game of hockey including setting borders, how many warships were allowed on the Great Lakes, the price of currency and immigration laws?

What if the past is prologue?

All I know is is that Habs fans make the best friends and in 4 months we'll be here again trying to sort out the machinations of the best hockey team ever to grace the planet. In the meantime stay vertical.
