I so, so hope that Therein keeps him on the third line. And it's got nothing to do with "deserves", it's just that DD always seems to flourish in that position and he's doing it again this year! That line's getting plenty of ice in any case so I don't even see this as a demotion of any kind, and I hope that David doesn't either.

We pretty much all have taken our shots at DD and how he's been used. The guy has likely heard or read most of the concerns expressed here and in the media. Fact is,,,,,he hasn't let it affect his game. He's a trouper that never complains, and just seems to feel blessed playing for the Habs. It's far from his fault that coaches have used or overused him as our 1st line center. He's never made a peep about where or with whom he plays in the lineup. Something to admire about the guy. He does the sweater proud.

The many times I have read that someone wanted him traded. I kept saying that he was signed to be the third line center and that is where he now is. Seeing him get the 2nd star last night was a great. He is not getting plenty of ice time. He only play a little over 12 minutes last night. The only thing that could mess this up is Eller and Semin and the lack of production from that line. Hopefully they learn to play as a unit and start clicking.

Agreed, he looks really good right now – much better than playing against the other team's top pairings 99% of the time. And that's really not supposed to be a knock on him, he's shown that he can be a very good playmaker, it's just that we can't have him as our designated No. 1 guy if we're going to compete for the cup.

its trickle down. You put together our lines like last year & the other teams can match lines easily. The way we have it right now, who do you play against what line?? You have Plekanec's line that can score and play defense with the best of them. you have Galchenyuks line that can snipe and still play pretty defensively sound hockey. You have Mitchell's line that is uber fast and plays a good solid grinding defensive game and then you have DD's line - who, when matched up against the oppositions bottom 6 (which they most likely will if the other team has to deal with our top 2 lines) will exploit all day, ever day.

The only thing im not happy about is DD back on the powerplay. He had one of the top amounts of PP time last year among all forwards and barely any points to show for it. He had one nice play last night (that Beau couldnt capitalize on) but most of the time he's ineffective on the PP. If we're breaking up our set lines id rather see a big body like DSP just plant himself in front of the net. Pull a Tim Kerr/Dave Andreychuk.

Great to see DD playing so well and I am sure that no one is breaking up that line. Hopefully he will get some respect on here now. But I highly doubt it.

since when does dd get no respect? every critical post about him is about deployment, not him personally, and its been made clear by everyone on here who is critical, thats not even speculation.

he is where we all thought he should be all along, and he is doing great there as expected
