fnveenie
There was 5 days between games and no practice Sunday morning. He did nothing wrong. Whether or not they won the game the night before is irrelevant and one could argue that letting loose and having a good night with a few friends could be an effective way of relieving stress. He essentially just apologized for being a victim of domestic violence and that is unacceptable in my opinion. This article basically sums up how I feel about this. http://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/2016/1/13/10758630/toxic-masculinity-domestic-violence-and-hockey

jennifer_rocket
After 43 games played, he's sitting at 14:59 ATOI. I think this number needs to climb. I'd like him to be closer to 16-17 minutes. Gallagher's currently at 16:20, and I believe that's where Alex needs to be, as well.
mysideofthemirror
I'm still firmly of the mind that our first line should be Patches - Chucky - Gally. Watching games this season it's obvious he's our most talented player with the puck. Put him with our best shot and a guy willing to go to the net and watch the magic happen. Then you don't have to worry about defensive responsibility as much because your insulating him with zone starts! 2 birds, 1 stone.

If it's any consolation, the last few games his minutes have been up around there so hopefully that trend continues. Would you really be surprised if his off-ice incident affected his minutes though? Heck, maybe he should be taking the odd extra shift.

jeff33
DD 18:24 Plek 17:50 our best forward yet again....16:21 after dominating for two periods on a line with a very dangerous looking lars "it doesn't matter what you do you are never moving up the depth chart" eller and sven "why was I ever off this obviously effective line in the first place" andrighetto.... finishes the game on a line with David "immunity idol" Desharnais and Paul "im seriously in the top 6 again?? ok!!" byron imagine instead of trying to boost DIID, maybe....boost alex? maybe throw gallagher out there with chuck and eller? I want the guys who are playing the best to play the most. aside from the fact our first line was invisible all night (again) chucks line was by far the MOST visible (again) yet he still ends up with the least ice and they break up his line that was getting the closest to scoring a goal for the sake of trying to score a goal
fnveenie
Well. We don't really even know what the event was. All we know is Alex's girlfriend was arrested for assault. Agreed. What I mean is that the team seems to be treating it as a "bad decision" on his part even though it sounds to me like he did nothing wrong. jennifer_rocket
Quick hands, fancy tricks but still can't finish.... I'm hesitant to say we will ever see Galchenyuk score 30 goals. But I can imagine him having some 20+ goal seasons and 40-60 assists. I know he's young, but I think he should already be in the number 1 center role with our best wingers to develop him. Enough kid gloves.
BigTed3
Quick hands, fancy tricks but still can't finish.... Hard to say that. If you look points per 60 minutes of ice time at 5v5, Galchenyuk is 2nd on the team at 2.07 behind only Gallagher's 2.17. Comparatively, Plekanec is at 1.72, Pacioretty and Desharnais are at 1.68. In terms of goals per ice time, Galchenyuk is also ahead of Pacioretty, Plekanec, Eller, Fleischmann, and Desharnais. He leads the team in points at even strength. The major difference is that he isn't getting the same ice time as other guys. He plays 4 minutes less per game than Pacioretty and Plekanec. He plays less than Fleischmann, Desharnais, and Gallagher and a comparable amount to Eller and Weise. There is no reason for the coach to use his best offensive weapon as a 6th, 7th, or 8th forward, especially when the guys playing in front of him are doing so poorly. Give him more ice time and the production numbers will improve as well.

I1IscottieI1I
From hockeyinsideout.com When asked about putting Galchenyuk back at centre on the No. 1 line with Max Pacioretty and Brendan Gallagher, Therrien said: We tried the experiment for three games and, honestly, they didnt have not one scoring chance. His logic makes no sense how many games has pleky and DD had were they had zero scoring chances

habs_93
According to HockeyViz, the number of games during the 2015-16 season in which Alex Galchenyuk spent the majority of his time on ice with Brendan Gallagher and Max Pacioretty is... zero. So, there's that. It's pretty obvious when you set people up to fail only to make a big scene of looking exasperated for having tried. "Scoring chance" is, of course, a somewhat subjective measurement. I'm not sure how the coaching staff defines a scoring chance, but one of the publicly available sources is War-on-ice. And according to that site, Galchenyuk has the highest 5-on-5 scoring chances for per 60 rate of all of our centres (27.71). This is marginally higher than Desharnais' (27.44). And of course, Desharnais plays on average a minute more of 5-on-5 time per game than Galchenyuk, usually with better players.
