Not a horrible deal. An extra mill for a solid vet who still has excellent value for the money. I like it.

What i like even more is that it does not contain a NM or trade clause.

I like it, too. It would have been nice to see a $5 million cap hit, but a $1 million raise doesn't upset me. Short-term. Little risk for Montreal.

Yeah you could argue that he was a little underpaid on his last deal so topping that up this time is alright in my books. Happy to see he's part of the long-term plans.

Even 6M per year is not a bad deal, when he's in effect currently our first-line center. You'd hope Galchenyuk will seize that job over the next two years, but Plekanec is still likely a key PK/defensive guy, key late-game guy, and a guy who'll still put up numbers over the next two years. 6M really isn't an unfair price to pay. Heck, David Krecji is 3-4 years younger but he's signed to an extra 3 years, so both he and Plekanec will see their current deals expire at the same age, and Krejci's cap hit is 7.25M. Patrice Bergeron's in at 6.875M, and he'll be 38 when his deal reaches its end. Kopitar's still at 6.8M and will probably get a big raise after next year. Eric Staal's at 8.25M. Patrick Marleau's at 6.66M and several years older, I'd consider many of those guys to be in the same value category as Plekanec, and Plekanec's deal is cap-friendlier than all of them, with no long-term commitment. To me, this is another win for Bergevin.
