RicochetII
I think it's a tougher call than that and you would have to have insight into his psyche in order to determine whether it is wise to put him in that situation. We're talking about a game with the weight of the history of a franchise on the shoulders of a goaltender who only has 1 game of NHL experience. I don't think it is wise to put him in that situation, and not for the sake of the record, but for his own safety. If he plays and takes the loss, he will carry that for his entire career, along with the question of "what if Price had played that game?". That could be toxic, especially in this environment. Personally, I would play Price until we lose, just to spare Condon from that potential scar.
PuckPundit
Well we got a record on the line, do you trust Condon to play Friday? Yes, because Robert Lehner is not the opposition goalie. I hate playing against ex-Ottawa goalies (see Ben Bishop). I still remember Lehner shutting the Habs out when he was Craig Anderson's backup. I don't think it is wise to put him in that situation, and not for the sake of the record, but for his own safety. If he plays and takes the loss, he will carry that for his entire career, along with the question of "what if Price had played that game?". That could be toxic, especially in this environment. Losing to Buffalo is embarrassing, but no shame. But losing to the Leafs ???? That'll cause Condon enough nightmares to poison his mind. Right decision to play Condon against Buffalo, Price against Leafs .

RicochetII
IMO, it's a meaningless record. There is more a stake than that record. As I said, it's not about the record to me. It's about what the record could mean to him. That is what I think is at stake, and why I think you need to know more about his mental fortitude in order to make that call. Just suggesting it is a more difficult decision than we might initially perceive, and to keep in mind how it would likely be read by a more casual observer. He's set to start, so it seems management believes he can handle it. Not that it matters, because we are going to win anyway.

I think you're putting way too much importance on one game . Yes they won . But they are going to lose eventually The kids's gotta play and CP31 needs rest . GreekHockeyCoach
If Condon keeps playing well we can have a nicely rested Price all season. He looked a little shaky at times but it's normal for only his second game. All in all, very good performances so far. Once this kid gains some more experience, he'll definitely be able to play more games and do well.
fnveenie
He didn't look nearly as in control as he did in his first game and during the preseason. There was lots of unnecessary movement and his technique was off. I think a lot of this was due to nerves. Kudos to him for battling through it and getting the win. RicochetII
We can blame Rico! May I direct your attention to rule #17? First, I was correct, his play showed visible signs of nervousness. As I noted in his first game, he doesn't have enough confidence in his positioning yet. He has a tendency to move or readjust when it just doesn't seem necessary, especially his limbs. That was evident again last night, and it lead to a need to fight some rebounds. Price tends to absorb pucks because he is confident in his positioning and lets the puck come to him. Condon will often move his limbs toward the puck. I'm confident he will improve over time. Second, I was also correct, as I said it wouldn't matter, because we would win anyway. So, neener neener. P.S. Time to change your signature. jennifer_rocket
Pacioretty called him, "Condo," in his post-game comments. Pretty funny nickname.

PuckPundit
Ok I put my hand up and admit that I underestimated this guy! My poor judgement. Please don't trade him. Carey may finally have a competent backup.

fnveenie
His movement looked better tonight. He was more in control than his last couple of games. Good work, kid.
PuckPundit
He'll bounce back against the Islanders and Bruins . Not much he could've done against a bogey team and bogey player. For the 1st time, I don't fret about rushing Carey prematurely back in action.
