habs_93
I hope we aren't rushing Price back. I would rather lose a handful more games than risk losing Price for another significant stretch later in the season. You said it.
GreekHockeyCoach
Despite a rough couple of games, I'm pretty happy he's on the team. Very solid option for a backup to Price. I'm sure the goalie coach will work with him on his positioning and tracking the puck better and he'll help us win more games.

RicochetII
Decent performance against a typically less offensive team. Did enough to earn the win on a night when we weren't at our best. "Montreal Condoniens"?
Habberwacky
Decent performance against a typically less offensive team. Did enough to earn the win on a night when we weren't at our best. "Montreal Condoniens"? Agreed. The winning goal was a good example as he made a great save but no one was there to clear the rebound. Not a lot of support for our goalie. I am sure Condon and Therrien are scratching there heads a little today.
kinot-1
I think it's about time that Condon should get some consideration for the Calder. His GAA is 2.19 good for 12th (ahead of MAF,,,, Rinne,,, Howard,,,Quick and Crawford among others),,, his SV% is .916,,, good for 18th (ahead of Bob, Miller,,among others). Wins are 18th with only 13 GP (ahead of Halak,,Rask,,,Mrazak, and others). He'll definitely play around 25 games,,, another 12-15. Only Carey and Lehtonen have better winning percentages. If he can keep up his numbers, who knows?

If he can keep up his numbers, who knows? If he keeps this up he will get consideration for sure but two things: 1) when the games really matter in the second half of the season, Price will (hopefully!!) be back, so I dont see Condon getting much playing time after that. 2) Goalies almost never win the Calder. Either way he's been spectacular for us and im really really happy that he's looked so good. Last year we would have been so bad without Price but this year we've looked so much better as a team and Condon has filled in the blanks where necessary. PuckPundit
Lost the goalie duel tonight. But it'll be unfair to pit him against a much more experienced elite goalie on the other end. Hope he bounces back against Hurricanes!
jennifer_rocket
That second goal was ridiculous. Too bad he couldn't come up with a save on one of the three Washington goals.
HabsRuleForever
That second goal was ridiculous. Too bad he couldn't come up with a save on one of the three Washington goals. Rookie mistake IMO. On a high puck like that you've got to get up against your net so the puck doesn't bounce off your back & in.
fnveenie
His SV% over his last 8 starts is .885. At what point does this become a concern?
ramcharger440
he is playing fair he is a rookie in this league he will make mistakes like any other rookie and we are used to some high end goaltending around here so we may tend to be a little tough on the guy. fnveenie
I think he has played reasonably well. I'm not trying to be hard on the guy, it's just we have no safety net. It's something we need to keep an eye on.
NewfoundlandHab
Robin Lehner was originally predicted to be out 6-10 weeks. Come Monday, he will have been out 7. Linus Ullmark is a promising prospect for the Sabres who has played well for then since Lehner went down. If he comes back soon and Buffalo were to waive a guy like Chad Johnson, would you consider picking him up to split time with Condon? Or even Joni Ortio from CGY. I'd like to have a better backup option behind Condon. Similarly,Freddie Andersen is injured in ANA right now too. Anton Khudobin has been backing him up all season, but John Gibson has started their past 5 games including tonight. I doubt they'd waive Khudobin, but if they did, I'd claim him in a heartbeat. Guest habs1952
9-3-2 with an goals against average of 2.17. I'm not concerned about him right now. I'm concerned about DD and Weise on the first line upsetting the rest of the lineup.

Yes I really think it would be worth our while to look for a cheap backup option for Condon. I would be pretty surprised if MB wasn't at least weighing his options even though he says he plans on moving forward with the status quo. I'd say Ortio would be a lateral move but the others could fill a hole for the time being. It really depends on who becomes available.

I'm concerned about DD and Weise on the first line the rest of the lineup. Yes, but those numbers are being propped up quite a bit by his early season stats when he was playing the role of a backup. He has even said on a few occasions that he has gained a greater respect for the position of #1 goaltender because of the level of focus required. I think it would be helpful to him mentally to have someone to share the load with, if only to take some of the pressure off of him. It's easy to forget he is a rookie because of his age but he is still adjusting to the NHL. It's probably better that he makes the transition a little more slowly rather than being thrown into the fire like he has been.
HabsRuleForever
We have Tokarski. We have Fucale. Even though they haven't been at their best lately I say let's see what we got this season before jumping the gun. It all depends on Carey. Even though they haven't been at their best lately I say let's see what we got this season before jumping the gun. It all depends on Carey. I agree. There are really only two things that matter in a season where your goal is to win it all: 1) making the playoffs and then 2) winning the cup. Being honest here, at this point we're very likely going to achieve goal number one no matter who is in nets. No reason to go out and get a backup when we're going to make the post-season anyway. As for number two, I'd say that we're going to need Carey back and healthy if we're going to win it all. Again here we don't need a backup since Price should be playing every playoff game anyway.
