jennifer_rocket
Tokarski did himself no favors in locking down the backup spot behind Carey. He's been struggling for awhile now. It's going to be the difference between 8-10 points in the year to come if he's our backup.

jennifer_rocket
never felt he was that great but in all fairness he has not had much gametime this fall. But that's going to be his job: Not having a lot of game time, but having to put in decent performances. I feel like he hasn't effectively done this since early last season. fnveenie
He has looked awful for a while. He seems to have no idea where the puck is a lot of the time and goes into scramble mode too often. Condon's technique is fundamentally better and I wouldn't be shocked if last night was his last game with the Habs. That being said, I still think there is a good chance we keep him on a short leash, but personally, I question the kind of message that would send to our younger players. Condon has clearly been the better goaltender in the, albeit small, amount of time he has played. I don't think it would be fair to cut him after how well he has played. As others have said, it might be good for Tokarski to get some starter time in St. John's and if Condon doesn't pan out, we could see Tokes back in the NHL. Tend to agree with everything you've said here. Thankfully we have arguably the best goalie coach in the NHL so hopefully he can assess the potential in each & take it from there. I would not be surprised to see Tokarski moved or at least sent down at this point.

Tokarski leaving was quite evident. I think it's a good move, Condon shows a ton of promise.

jedimaas
This time of year they arent unconditional though, right? So as long as he clears, he's still in our plans & can go play on the farm. Chances are though, if he does well down there & is brought back up he'd be claimed on re-entry. BigTed3
If the organization is willing to waive him, he's obviously not in the long-term plans, regardless of whether we see him again. You'd have to guess the Habs brass looked at the situation and felt Condon could handle the role this year and that Fucale would battle him next year for the back-up job. Guest
I'll get my lawyer to read the fine print. I found my own legal eagle. Re-entry Waivers Re-entry waivers, were a product of the prior CBA but are no longer in effect. Any player who was paid over a threshold amount was subject to re-entry waivers when he was called up to the NHL. If that player was claimed, the claiming team would only have to pay half of his salary and the waiving team was on the hook for the other half. Re-entry waivers were a mechanism to keep teams from stashing ringers in the AHL. However, once teams started to send players to the AHL to exempt their salaries from the salary cap, it became an incentive to keep those players there. The result was the end of re-entry waivers and institution of the "Wade Redden Rule" (paragraph 50.5(d)(i)( (6)), which states that for purposes of computing a team's average salary for cap compliance, salaries for players on a one-way contract count to the extent that they are higher than the minimum NHL salary plus $375,000. jennifer_rocket
Tokarski called up. I really hope Price's injury is short term so we don't have to see Dustin playing in an NHL game. He just doesn't instill confidence. He's 2-2-2 with a 3.45 GAA and 0.891 save % with St. John's this season.
