Hopefully DSP shows up to camp in better condition this season. I don;t really see him becoming a top 6 guy, but at the very least he could be a good top 9 guy and make his living in front of the net on the PP.

Yeah, you still have to think that our scouts see something in him that we've yet to see realized. I mean it was obvious that Sekac and MT didnt have a loving relationship but MB rarely seems to give up on young players so easily, especially after going after one has hard as he did with Sekac. My gut still tells me MB was reluctant to deal Sekac but did so because he really really wanted DSP. So hopefully we'll see why that is, this year.

DSP on first line to replace Gallagher  ???

With all due respect, a one-liner to sum it up: out of his depth :D .

Nothing more than a big body to hustle and retrieve the puck. Goal scoring? Once in a blue moon. But most likely no. Quick hands? Nope. Playmaker ? Not likely.

No but in all seriousness, Michel Therrien's criticisms of Semin have been that he hasn't produced enough and that he doesn't shoot the puck enough. DSP has the same PPG totals and fewer shots per game, with vastly inferior possession numbers. It's not about DSP, but how can a coach knock down one player repeatedly and bench him for 7 games and put the other on his top line? If you really have a problem with guys who can't score and don't shoot, then why use either one and why not use Holloway or Andrighetto or Thomas or Hudon there?

IMHO Therrien looks at Semin & judges him by his history. He says "this guy scored 40, he should be able to do it again" and when he doesnt meet those expectations, he must not be 'working hard enough." When in reality he should be judging him based on his cost - for which he's providing very similar value to DSP.

I wish Smith Pelly the best - and i still think there's potential there - but if it was me, I would have left lines 3 and 4 in tact and used 2 of Andrighetto, Semin and Holloway as my top 2 RW during this stretch of injuries.
