2015-2016 Supplementary discipline hearings

Recommended Posts

Blackhawks' Andrew Shaw could face discipline for possible homophobic slur.

"In 2011, cameras appeared to capture Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds shouting the same homophobic slur at the New York Rangers’ Sean Avery during a game. Simmonds later denied using the slur, and the NHL had no proof for which to discipline.

Flyers player Wayne Simmonds has expressly denied using the homophobic slur he is alleged to have said,” NHL senior vice president of hockey operations Colin Campbell said in a statement. “Additionally, none of the on-ice officials close to the altercation in question heard any inappropriate slurs uttered by either of the primary antagonists. In light of this, we are unable at this time to take any disciplinary action with respect to last night's events.”

Bold is mine.

IMO, the 'hit' on Laughton from Carlsson warranted a penalty. I don't think it was a 'hit' at all, more like a push when a player was in a vulnerable position close to the boards.

NHL.com. Philadelphia's Brayden Schenn will have a hearing for an illegal check TJ Oshie of Washington in the second period of Game 6. There was no penalty called.

I seen that hit and he "did" leave his feet, and got his elbow up around Oshie's head. A hearing usually means suspended games.

About Orpik: "I'll let the league handle it. ... He's not a dirty player. The Pittsburgh people know that," offered Capitals head coach Barry Trotz.

Yeah, right. Dirty players do exactly what Orpik did to Maata.

3 games. Justified IMO.

I think the league, during the playoffs, has to shoulder some of the blame. The referees put away their whistles which results in a marked increase in intensity between teams. Players have crossed the line because they've been allowed to unless the league has issued a new rule book for the playoffs I'm not aware of.

Same rule book they use every year in the playoffs. Everything and anything goes.

Letang's hit on Johansson.

After some discussion between the officials, Letang was given a two-minute minor for interference, while Johansson was helped off the ice.

Letang was to have a hearing with the NHL on Tuesday.
