2015-2016 Supplementary discipline hearings

Recommended Posts

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog will have a hearing Friday with the NHL Department of Player Safety for an illegal check to the head of Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand during a 3-2 Colorado win Thursday at TD Garden in Boston.

Landeskog received a match penalty for an illegal hit to the head at 5:46 of the second period.

Marchand received a minor penalty for roughing on the play but otherwise remained in the game.

In other news, a GoFundMe page has been opened, to reward Landeskog. ;)

NHL.com. Landeskog got two games and Marchand was fined $5000.

Matt Beleskey did this to Derek Stepan today. No penalty was assessed:

That's a definite suspension, IMO. Extremely late and extremely dirty. McIlrath and maybe Vigneault should get something, too.

NBC's attempts to minimize and excuse it away was also fairly disgusting, but completely expected. Considering NBC acts as all but the NHL's official mouthpiece, there's probably not going to even be a fine. This kind of inexcusably dirty trash is "finishing your check" these days, I guess.

Dirty hit, and it was boarding,,,,, should have been 5 + a game. pen.

I might be mistaken, but I "thought" SN said that Stepan got a broken wrist. I might be wrong tho.

Ribs. Out indefinitely, too.

Chris Rooney (who's from Boston) was one of the referees, by the way.

The NHL loves the Rangers as much as it loves the Bruins. They're two huge markets for them.

The Beleskey hit was definitely way late and was definitely interference. Prust got suspended for a late interference hit (was that also on Stepan?) in the playoffs, even though the hit in itself would not have been illegal if it was delivered on time. The only problem with the Beleskey hit is that it's late. It's not a head shot, it's not a blindside hit. It's just late. I personally think this should have been a penalty, maybe even a major. But I don't really know about a suspension...
