I hope we can do well again in spite of the system.

It takes a good coach to implement a system that emphasizes a teams strengths. Therriens system is playing "Hail Mary" hockey. It doesn't take any imagination to tell your players to dump the puck out and chase it. It's really not very entertaining either.

It's very entertaining watch the Habs chase the other team and watch Price stand on his head

I hope MT has a game plan for 3 on 3

MT will keep a player waiting for a dump out at center ice while our opponent works a 3 on 2 in our end. <_<

Games will be over in under a minute as the Habs never gain possession of the puck . Too much room to walk right in .......lol

It hasn't been pretty so far. He needs to change his philosophy and be more aggressive when it comes to 3 on 3 or we'll lose alot of games.

From what I understand, a "good" puck-moving goalie (Carey) can help the 3 on 3. If going for a line change, the puck "could" be sent back to the goalie who then buys some seconds (for the line change), and then passes it up to a player. Possession is everything on a 3 on 3.

Possessing the puck goes against Therrien's morals.

It is a little concerning to think that if Daniel Lacroix was the key element in what was wrong with the Habs Power-play last year, he has now been given the task to manage the defense.

If the pre-season is any kind of indicator... there is a need for concern.

Lacroix was given charge of the PK only I thought. I think he will is more likely to be released at the end of the year. Well Therrien may need o get that system fixed as after playing two strong posssession games we are 0 and 2 and it clearly destroyed us against Tampa in the playoffs  . Go get em Carey!!!!. I think Carey will have the scoring support he has so desperately needed this year

I would assume the PK requires some work with the defense...no?

While some may argue it isn't Therrien's true self. I think he has opened up our game considerably. It appears we now have the offensive game that is putting more teams back on their heals. We are definitely not playing as tight as last year and the puck possession play has improved.I must give the coach some credit for creating some highly effective lines. As long as we win the next 79 I am sure everything will be fine. If we go 4 and 0 on the road it is going to be hard to beat at the Bell Centre

I was coming in here to post the same thing. So far the team has been a lot more exciting to watch. Our offensive zone possession is way better than last year and we're creating a ton of scoring chances. Only thing wrong that I'm seeing is that the defense is pinching in way too much on offense and that's creating too many odd man rushes. Oh and then there's our powerplay. If we ever fix that, we'll be legitimate contenders.

Picked this up from a poster on HIO. Not sure how accurate it is...

Overtime losses aside, as of last night’s win, MT has now won twice as many games as he has lost in his second go-round as head coach with the Habs.

That doesn't take out all his OT/SO wins from his win totals though (which it should if you're taking out OT losses), so that's a somewhat skewed view of his record. That said, I'll give Therrien his due when it comes to regular season wins and losses... our record has been good, it's the way we got those wins (on Price's back) that hurt us the past two years.

There should also be a regular season record vs playoff teams stat tracked to better show Therrien just how much trouble this team is in offensively despite their record.

If you want year-by-year record against teams that ended up as playoff teams, this can be arranged in short order. If you want game-by-game granularity, a point percentage of games against teams which were in playoff position when the game was played but not necessarily at the end of the season, that'll take a little bit longer.

Okay. Record against teams which made the playoffs:

2012-13: .540 Point %

2013-14: .563 Point %

2014-15: .549 Point %

Total during Therrien's second tenure: .552 Point %. I don't know what the average point percentage against playoff teams is, though, so this is slightly meaningless.
