Still waiting on return. Can dream about Duclair but it's not happening in reality.

Didn't see that coming.

who's we get? Who'd we get? A scoring RW?

I don't think Phoenix has a scoring RW.

Maybe Boedker would make sense...

Heavy rumors Boedker may be involved and that Habs have been scouting him recently.

TSN radio now speculating on AZ expiring contracts.

Only people not on the ice for AZ are Duclair and Scott.

Probably turns out to be a pick, <_<

AZ and Habs "definitly" in talks,,, %100

I can't find anything either. Where did you read it, Ted?

985 sports broke it first.

Dreger and TSN picking it up now. He says deal still being finalized but Coyotes didn't deny it.

TVA sports reported on Jan 9 that Habs were scouting Boedker.

fourthperiod reporting Habs had been looking into Boedker, Yakupov, Drouin, and Staal recently. Would be surprised to see Phx trade Boedker for Tinordi, still think a pick or prospect is more likely, but you never know. MB has won trades before.

Craig Custance now reporting John Scorr is part of the deal. So I take back the MB comment if that's true! Unless there's a prize as part of the reason for taking Scott.

Really sounding like it's Tinordi for Scott plus something else.Dreger now confirming the trade.

Scott + Stefan Elliot, as per Bob Mckenzie.

Hrrm.... well, Elliot has some define potential & is probably a safer bet than Tinordi to at least be a top 6 (not that we gave him a chance) but Im not sure we need more right handed defensemen. I dont see him as being better than a Pateryn or Barberio for example. Scott is ...well I wouldnt have traded for him.

...although maybe this means another trade is in the works?

When fans and media clamored on MB to grab an all-star caliber winger to help out Therrien, this is not what they meant. Therrien however is probably thrilled by a Tinordi-for-Scott trade.

Scott + Stefan Elliot, as per Bob Mckenzie.

Heck,,, he was placed on waivers yesterday, and nobody picked him up. And he's another D-man.

49th pick by the Avs in '09

This had BETTER not be all that's coming back,,, or it's someone else.

  • The Montreal Canadiens are close to trading defenceman Jarred Tinordi to the Arizona Coyotes for forward John Scott and defenceman Stefan Elliott, according to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie.

McKenzie: "

  • To be clear, trade not yet official but those are the pieces at this time.

Scott is literally the worst player in the NHL. This is the reason he was voted into the ASG as a joke. Because everyone thought it would be hilarious for the least-talented player in the league to be there to make a mockery of Bettman's game.

Elliot is a RH defenceman, which we don't really need. He is a year older than Tinordi. And most astoundingly, he was placed on waivers by the Coyotes and CLEARED those waivers yesterday. That's right. The Habs could already have had Scott and Elliott for free this year if they had wanted them, just by claiming them on waivers.

Teams reportedly offered the Habs two 2nd-rounders for TInordi in the off-season, as per Elliotte Friedman. Yet instead, the Habs sat him in the pressbox, crushed his value, then traded him for two guys no other team wanted. For those thinking this sets up another trade, the Habs have in fact added another contract to their books, meaning that another trade would likely be to clear an extra body, not to add one. That said, McKenzie is reporting Elliott has already been flipped somewhere else, so we'll see.

This trade is beyond puzzling. It's one of Bergevin's worst deals. It does nothing to address scoring needs. It got the lowest possible value for a once highly-rated prospect. And it puts us in a worse situation contract-wise.

The trade call is taking longer than usual because the person taking the call couldn't stop laughing and they had to switch to another operator. Bergevin is currently on hold and waiting for a supervisor after having gone through 3 such operators without being able to complete the call.

This one better be a precursor to another deal. No reason for us to to trade a lefty D for a righty D otherwise AND take back another contract on top of it.

Conspiracy theory:

Bergevin to Bettman, "Have the officiating bias stop and we'll trade for John Scott so you have an excuse to remove him from the All Star game. He can't be captain of a division he isn't in, right?"

Bettman, "Done!"

Waaaaaaay too much thinking,,, Bob.
