I actually didn't have a problem with it initially because the reffing last night was brutally lopsided. It actually seemed to improve after the outburst ,,,, somewhat. Maybe it helped bring the zebras back in line with reality. I say in hindsight simply because we could have used him on the ice when we went down a man. I think part of the problem is that he's not quite ready to take on the other teams' top line night after night. In a first pairing role he was a bit overwhelmed (although he needs to be allowed to make a few mistakes without being demoted). He was immediately dumped down the third pairing which really isnt great use of his skills. The second pairing with Petry is almost ideal. It gives him more minutes, better assignments and yet not the hardest job on the roster. Assuming Emelin-Weber can maintain 1st pairing minutes, I actually dont mind doing this when everyone is healthy: Emelin-Weber Beaulieu-Petry Markov-Pateryn/Redmond I know markov is a VERY expensive 3rd pairing guy but the lower minutes should help his game and he can still be a 1st unit PP guy. In hindsight it may not have been the right decision, but at least our coach is willing to be observant & work out the bugs with individual players. Hockey feed isnt exactly a 'beacon of journalism' and Amanda Stein is not a big name reporter (read: she may be fluffing this up to get a little more attention for her journalistic skills). That said, even if its real its once again montreal media making a mountain out of a mole hill. To my knowledge players dont *have* to go to the pressbox when they are scratched. And if Julien told Beaulieu he was out so he could rotate in a player then what was there really for him to "learn." Not sure why this is such a big deal. The lack of towing the party line is what got certain players traded away sometimes with this organization, unfortunately much more so under MB.
