If only we could concentrate on winning the Cup instead of petty differences. Beau isn't going anywhere. It was Emelin in the press box last night, and Beaulieu "rotating" in against Ottawa. And he looked fine, as well. Coach Julien knows what he's doing, and as some have noticed here, when a player is a scratch, he's not thrown under the bus as MT did, but he is recognized as an important part of the team who is just sitting out because of the "normal" rotation. Correct. What a breath of fresh air for this team.
Noob616
Scratched again, starting to wonder if they'll trade him before the expansion draft. They'll say it's just rotating out but we all know that isn't true. You don't rotate out a 24 year old PMD on a team with a #2 D that's 38 years old if you're happy with the 24 year old's play. Seems like they're angling for Markov/Sergachev/Benn/Davidson on the left side next season.

I find it surprising but at the same time, its not just 1 coach who seems to have little faith in him, now Julien is in the same boat. I would assume Muller has concerns too, as Julien seems to take a lot of his advice. Maybe there's more behind the scenes we dont know because on paper he's one of our best LD, assuming Benn plays RD where he says he's more comfortable. Noob616
I don't like doing this stuff because it can be so vacuous but I've always been suspicious ever since the story of him and his father getting in a fight surfaced a few years ago. He's still a fine player and should be in the lineup over Emelin but at some point I think we have to realize we overrate him a lot as a fanbase. He's never really played top 4 minutes and at age 24 players pretty much are what they are.

That said, he was also under-developed early on by the coaching staffs IMHO. It could be that looking towards the future better options could be available (ie. - Sergachev, Juulsen). Trading him may not be such a bad thing.
ramcharger440
I think he could still develop a bit more, D men do take a bit. I think his main issue is between the ears he seems to be immature he expects to be treated as a vet while he has not made his mark yet and to tell you the truth I don't think he will. PuckPundit
Watched his media interview. LOL, to say the guy doesn't lack self-confidence is a gross understatement. He says he's certain he'll stay with the team and be an IMPORTANT part of it. Maybe he didn't hear MB's specific message to him, "The clock is ticking". Maybe he didn't hear MB's specific message to him, "The clock is ticking". From sportsnet As for Beaulieu—the 24-year-old who set a career-high with 28 points in 74 games—his self-evaluation was rather frank. “I thought I could’ve been better,” he said. “If you look at the numbers and everything else, it was a pretty good season. Personally, I would’ve liked to have been in a different situation, and the way it ended was obviously super disappointing. I’ll take that on the chin and I’ll better myself.” So there is some self awareness there as well
ramcharger440
This is one player I had high hopes for but in his specific case I think he may be the problem. he has obvious talent but takes nights off with his decision making he has to decide what he wants for a career and apply himself here or elsewhere. Im not even so sure he 'takes nights off" though. He is an insanely good skater - maybe the most fluid on the team - and i think that makes us think he's a better player than he actually is. He goes through stretches where he looks very positionally sound but then he starts making mistakes & his hockey sense cant compensate for them. This time last year I thought he might have a shot as a top pairing guy. Now Im not sure if he'll ever be a top 4 guy, consistently.
ramcharger440
The nights off I am referring to are mental it seems his pre game prep is not there or he just does not have what it take to be a top tier pro mentally. I think the physical side is there it is between the ears he needs to get right.
ramcharger440
He is the only guy we could get rid off from our younger core that would not bug me too much as long as we got something more than a bag of pucks or a guy like King!
