I didn't mind that to be honest, the game was over for him anyway, so I was kind of expecting him to vent. He had just scored that goal and Vatanen sold the hook rather well, so I think his frustration is somewhat understandable. Not saying it's great behavior or anything but it wasn't really a big deal at that point.

It's not a big deal really, I just have little patience for it, especially with all the platitudes about character. To me the guy you bring in to be your character and leadership guy shouldn't be hooking people with 30s to go, and shouldn't be throwing a tantrum like a toddler when he gets a penalty. His on ice play has been largely fine in the games I've seen, but it's only been 2 months and he's already had a few outbursts. It doesn't matter in a game in November but I don't know I trust him to keep his cool when the pressure is on.
Habs=stanleycup
I`m kinda with Shaw on this one. Very seldom in the final minutes do minor penalties get called even though infractions abound on both sides. Perhaps he thought he was being targeted. Whatever the case is, it is obvious he hates to lose.

What he does in the hallway leaving the ice is up to him... the fact he's now taken some bad O-zone penalties in the last 2 minutes of games while we're playing catch-up bothers me more, even if some of the calls have been questionable. To be honest though, I think the biggest reason this is drawing attention is because MT and MB have made such a big deal about character and yet they let everything Shaw does slide and still call him gritty and a winner. If Subban had thrown a fit in the hallway, you can bet Therrien would have commented about how that behavior was unbecoming for the team and how the penalty was selfish. Shaw is a bottom 6 player playing like a bottom 6 player, but the bigger issue is how management lets him do what he pleases without calling him out the way they called out other players they didn't like. I agree with you on all of this. However we must play with the hand we have been dealt with unfortunately, until or when team foxhole is dismantled. Maybe. But that would still be in stark opposition to the public thrashing of Subban in the media.

PuckPundit
Just keep it clean, no more dumb penalties. He'll be asking for trouble if he tries to pick a fight with any of Thornton, Pavelski or Couture. But I won't be surprised if the Sharks try to bait him, to capitalize on 4-on-4 hockey. I think losing one of those 3 for 5 minutes would be a good exchange for us. Not so sure a 4 on 4 would be an advantage for them. We should be the faster team. ChiLla
Hopefully he comes back still being able to play "his" game. Overpaid or not, that's why we signed him. I'm still convinced that Shaw would have been suspended had he been the one checking Krug to the head.
Habs_Hockey_Nutz
Shades of Ryan White... if he hadn't been ejected from the game I wonder if Therrien would have benched him for his poor judgement? I cringe when I think that the money saved by trading Eller was used on this player.

MT said after the game that the refs had an off-night (they did) and that he didn't think Shaw deserved a match penalty (also correct). I'm a little disappointed that the coach thought Shaw was "just playing with a lot of energy in his return" though. I think the officials were wrong to eject Shaw, just as they made a lot of other mistakes last night, but regardless, the hit by Shaw was still a boneheaded and unnecessary penalty. Even if it should only have been a two minute penalty, it's still a gratuitous hit that doesn't help us in any way and really puts us in a bad position. Shaw did this a lot to start the year, then he started to play actual hockey, but it seems like he's just another Sean Avery: has some skill but virtually useless to his club if he's going to do stuff like this. maas_art
Named as the team's LGBTQ ambassador. Kind of surprising after the kerfuffle in chicago a while back but good on him for stepping forward on what cant be an easy issue for those who feel like outsiders. http://www.outsports.com/2017/2/2/14486998/nhl-gay-lgbt-ambassadors

It's always easy to preach to the converted, but the goal of these kinds of campaigns is to inform/change the minds of people who don't already agree. Here you've got an example of someone who said something wrong and probably didn't even think anything much of it at the time. For him to come out and say "hey, I now realize that I made a mistake, and that what I say can actually have a profound effect on people" probably counts for a lot more than a similar message coming from someone else. PuckPundit
My guess is he will eventually be bought out or traded after the playoffs. Because his so-called playoff magic will be exposed. It's easy to shine when playing alongside quality line-mates of Chicago's calibre. People sometimes forget that it's not just individual skill or quality alone which makes a difference. Best example: Phil Kessel. In Toronto, he was a superstar but couldn't make a difference. Now with Pittsburgh, he is only a 3rd liner but scores regularly and won a Stanley Cup. What he doesn't get away with in the regular season, he might during the playoffs. (Unless of course he is a marked man by the Bettman Refs)
