Habs=stanleycup
A fresh breath into our team is just what the doctor ordered! Let skill reign over grit & character. If only we could get Subban back now.
BigTed3
Best possible move for the Habs. One of the few guys who speaks French who also meets the criteria of being the best available coach. Great move by MB, perhaps season-saving. Wondering now if Daigneault and Lacroix could also be given the axe.
BigTed3
Have to figure that with recent comments, Therrien had lost both Pacioretty and Price and thus likely the room. High likelihood MB spoke to both of these players before making move. In retrospect, he probably sought out feelings of his vets with that meeting last week (without directly asking them if they wanted coach gone). Still need a trade to add another piece, but now at least there's hope that we can make a real run.
Habs-92-93
Would rather not have Julien back. But what were our choices fitting the French criteria? dam. MB shouldn't have let this go on as long as it did, I afraid it may be too late.

(talking firing only) This is way too late. Still, I'd take a tree stump over Therrien.
Noob616
I honestly can't believe it. I was sure that Galchenyuk would be the next scapegoat and he'd get at least another season.
BigTed3
Julien is a recycled coach, but this is NOT the same as recycling Therrien. When we hired Therrien, it was a compromise on talent in order to get a French-speaking coach. Julien is a great systems coach, has been at top of possession metrics with his teams in many years, and has won a Cup. He was the best available coach, no matter what language comes into play. I have no issue hiring a French coach when he's also the top guy possible, and Julien was just that. Hopefully Muller stays, but I'd like CJ to bring in some new assistants to replace JJ and Lacroix, who were also dead weight.

maas_art
I have a feeling we may well be calling up Don Sweeney at the end of the year & saying "thank you" As mentioned, if Julien wasnt available, im not certain MT would have been fired. Exactly, we just keep cycling through these coaches with mediocre results. I understand the need for a French speaking coach but I think we might need to look past this to get us to the next level. I don't care if the coach can only speak Chinese, if it produces a Cup I'm all in.

Noob616
Julien is the best coach available right now, he's emphatically not a recycled "mediocre" coach and has a far better body of work as a head coach than Muller (who I also would have been fine with).
