Not the greatest game, but I'm still willing to give Julien a bit more time with this team.  Some players only knew Therrien as a coach and may have a harder transition.  Julien knows what to do, and based on the "team is greater than the sum of its individual parts" theory, I think the Habs will be just fine as they enter the playoffs.

They have a good shot of missing them and if the do make the playoffs don't expect a long stretch run .

THis isn't a very good hockey club as their record from mid November to now indicates

Agreed on CJs skill, but he can only accomplish the task so far with the current roster IMO. We need a serious awakening from our offence, otherwise we need a total rebuild.

This game was a big old rotten egg in my opinion. I know there are some that are taking positives away from it and I'm sorry but this was extremely ugly.

I lost count of the times that I watched an Islanders player close the distance on a puck quicker than a Habs player could even blink. Just a classic example of a team resting on its laurels vs a team that's fighting to win.  F- grade.

I agree. I don't know how a team could go from the obvious will to compete & high energy games Habs played at the start of the season to the docile 'easy to play against' group they are now. They just don't have the players willing to compete.... that's it. Emelin FINALLY lays out a good, clean hit & the officials blow it with a wussy call. I hate when they lose but when they aren't even showing desire & a willingness to be tough to play against, I have to turn the channel to the DIY networks. The past 2 months they've had no net presence, no check finishing & no legs. It's good I'm watching alone & not with Leaf fan friends or I'd be embarrassed .....:5155:

This fact irks me also but this team isn't built to throw a body check and it's been like that for years.

I never complain about officiating, but thought that when they finally made some calls they showed how much was overlooked. The Habs had some chances to go on the power play, but the refs were terribly inconsistent. While NYI might haave played one of their best games of the year, we really didn't seem to have the determination to overcome the checking and lost most of the puck battles Losing 5 in a row at home won't make it any easier for he boys  to relax and get their game going. We actually have an important game against the Leafs in February. Perhaps this will be the motivation we need to get going.
