Windoe
A new coach at the time would not have changed the captaincy vote. I agree that MT probably inflamed the situation. PK was the most entertaining player to watch and it was always fun listening to PK, as a fan. His commitment to the city is unparalleled. He is a world class athlete. He wanted to be a hab for life, the captain, and win the Cup. Unfortunately he's also the kind of guy you love, or you hate. His teammates voted for Pacioretty. Gallagher is taking runs at him and trash talking him after the game. MB traded him for 75% of FMV. There is pretty strong public evidence to support the idea that your 2015-2016 Montreal Canadiens' players voted PK off the island. I agree that in hindsight either of the Vancouver or Edmonton rumours would have been a better return. The clock was ticking on MB to trade PK while he could before the July 1 deadline. CANADIENS27
Last night, it was a team that couldn't finish scoring chances or take advantage of a 5 on 3 situation.
kinot-2
Habs have the worst road record in the NHL at 8-17-1. If you want a sense for how bad they've been there of late: lost 9 of last 10, scored a total of 8 goals and were shutout three times in the losses. BigTed3
Just noticed in the side columns of our message board that the Habs' slogan seems to be "Be the Spark" but they left out the rest of the slogan, which is "... for this tire fire." This really is the thing. Back in the dark days of the late 90s early 2000s we were clearly very weak at most positions. Id dare say that we probably had less pure "talent" than we do now but the team was structured more evenly and everyone seemed to want to at least be playing in the NHl. Really wish we could just forfeit the rest of the games. This is depressing.

Windoe
Two things I'm seeing this season that I have theories on but would love to hear from you: 1) We put up alot of shots but we don't score much > my theory is that they are largely perimeter shots in the absence of centers 2) We get scored on twice quickly alot > my theory is because the players know they can't score many goals they get deflated after a goal goes in

There are several areas we lack confidence but they all started with that brutal first stretch of games to start the year. We couldnt score, we couldnt defend, we couldnt make big saves. No one (aside from maybe Gallagher and Mete) had any confidence at all for most of the year. Some guys are coming around but overall its still a problem. The funny thing is, we traded a guy who absolutely oozed confidence for a guy who was supposed to "stabilize the room." Hrm.
Windoe
I think personal confidence and team chemistry are different things, but understand they fall into the same general area. Having Weber isn't going to make Lehkonen feel good about his game, and having Subban isn't going to make Lehkonen feel bad about his game. Speaking of team chemistry, I still think that what the Leafs have been able to get away with regarding Lupul is not right, I feel they've abused the gray "IR" status. That said, I don't disagree with why they're 'rumoured' to be doing it. It speaks to the importance of team chemistry in a team game.

We could probably have one top-six center in Galchenyuk if the organization could develop players. Plekanec and Danault seem like decent bottom-six options. There's no one, nothing, nada in the system to fill the glaring hole though. Another Bergevin failure.

BigTed3
Michel Bergeron tonight: "Have you ever seen a team with 5 terrible defencemen on it the way the Habs have? Sometimes teams have one or two bad D men, but the Habs have 5! It's mistake after mistake. They might have the worst defence ever." Yup. Bergeron says Mete is the only exception, although frankly, Petry is having a pretty decent season, especially considering he's playing next to Alzner. But count Alzner, Schlemko, Benn, Morrow, and maybe Jerabek as 5 guys who might not be in the NHL with any other team.
