While speaking on Friday, Therrien reflected on multiple moments during his tenure with the Canadiens. He said he regrets calling out P.K. Subban for an "individualistic mistake" after a loss to the Colorado Avalanche in 2015-16 and said he was always trying to challenge Subban to be one of the league's best defencemen, which he believes Subban now is.

Right, where would Subban be these days without MT's amazing player development skills

Therrien should just shut up and go away.

Therrien has always been full of it. He's always taken credit for players' success and been quick to pass on the blame to them when things didn't go well (not just with Subban, but recall his famous rant about the Pens' D). Do I think he honestly regrets calling out Subban? No. I think he regrets the fact fans viewed Subban as being the hero and him as being the goat. I suspect that after he was fired, he finally got around to reading what the media and fans thought of him and that he's now trying to do damage control for his reputation so he doesn't rule himself out from getting another coaching job.Therrien was a mistake when he was hired and a mistake not to have been fired on several occasions when he deserved it earlier. We will continue to pay for the talent he ran out of town before he was finally canned.

I don't think we'll ever see MT back in the NHL. His inadequacies have been exposed for all to see.

Maybe, but he's been hired three times and I was surprised he got the last two gigs as well. I think he's already had a few interviews since we fired him, so there remain NHL people who value old-school mentalities like Therrien's, even if they don't work.

I read somewhere MB hired him back as a scout

Just to clarify,,,,,

On former coach Michel Therrien saying in recent interviews that he would be scouting for the Canadiens this season: “Well, it’s not really a scouting position. Michel’s going to spend part of the winter in Florida and he asked me if he could watch some games and give him a pass to watch games. So he’s going to be watching, but he’s not a full-time scout. But on a needed basis, I respect Mike’s position as a hockey guy, so if I need some secondary opinion there’s a chance I call Mike. But he doesn’t have a scouting position.”

Nope. When you lie to the fans/media repeatedly, you don't earn the right to be trusted. But then again, maybe MB doesn't want anyone knowing what's true and what's false.

MB is riding the wave that this team's ownership allows him to ride IMO. This team has become so politicized it's sickening. We want the Cup, not politics!

Do you really believe anything MB says?

Not particularly, but i dont trust MT either.

In this case it sounds like a kid (MT) telling his friends "yeah, my dad is an astronaut and works at nasa"  and MB (the dad) clarifying that he went to astronaut camp when he was a teenager.  In other words, MT said something that was an exaggeration (to make himself look/feel better) and MB tried to downplay it.  Or maybe MT told the truth and MB is trying to make himself look better.

I dont know any more.

I remember the pride I felt for my team in the 60's & 70's. Even the 80's & 90's. Now most of the old guard has perished. Where is the vision, where is the planing, the commitment to the fans, and the goal of winning the Stanley Cup???

Someone put the Torch to all that.

With Hudon looking like he'll not only make the team but get into the top 9, the forward group isn't bad.

- Pacioretty, Drouin, and Galchenyuk are all top-line caliber players IMO

- Lehkonen and Gallagher are 2nd-line caliber players

- Hudon, Plekanec, and Danault are 3rd-line caliber

- Shaw, Byron, and Mitchell are all decent-to-good 4th liners, and DLR looks like he's come on a bit in the past 2 games

- I think the jury's still out on where Hemsky fits in

But overall, this isn't a bad group... not a lot to count on if these guys get hurt, because we have nothing left in Laval (Holland, Froese, Terry, Scherbak, McCarron, etc. haven't shown they can play in the NHL), but as a core group, they should be able to score goals.

But this defence... Weber yes, Petry yes, Mete hopefully can play as he has been and win the confidence of his coach into the regular season, Benn I think will be fine as a 3rd pairing guy. But who's filling the top two LH D spots? It's the same questions we had over the summer, but Alzner's play and Schlemko's injury and the complete lack of quality from Streit, Morrow, Davidson, Gelinas, and Jerabek is concerning.

Its just pre season

http://montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/nhl/montreal-canadiens/canadiens-drop-to-0-6-in-pre-season-with-loss-to-maple-leafs

The Canadiens continued to have problems getting the puck out of their own zone as coach Claude Julien tries to figure out who will be on his blue line when the season starts next Thursday in Buffalo. Victor Mete continued to look good beside Shea Weber, while Brandon Davidson continued to struggle

I think the no-shows on defense left in camp (Benn included IMO) do not make my team.

Jerabek was decent when he was given the chance to play...

I look forward to see what Schlemko can bring to the table

Mete, Weber, Alzner, Petry, hopefully Schlemko, Lernout would be my choice.... with Jerabek as a 7th

I know it's just preseason, but are we even a play-off team this year? Presumably other teams in our division and conference will have made strides forward this offseason. We have, arguably, taken steps back.

Sure looks that way... "Boondoggle" Bergevin has lost me

Yeah. I think a lot of people predict things based off of previous success/failure. But... I don't think our regular season success last season will have much bearing on our ability to perform in 2017-2018. Our D looks putrid. We haven't added any scoring potential up front. We've simply replaced Radulov's production with Drouin's. Galchenyuk looks poised to return to obscurity stuck on a line with... Who? I have my fingers crossed that this season leads to new management and an absolute cleaning house from top to bottom.

No doubt, it looks like there's potential for massive failure this season.
