I thought when you were searching for his thread that you had something to say about him, kinot.

FWIW, he's apparently playing very well in Laval. His agent Allan Walsh was on one of twitter yesterday, promoting all the things Jerabek's done to deserve a spot in the NHL.

I guess I have to do all the work around here. :P

1G, 9A, in 13 GP, and a + 12.

Im guessing he'll be up before the new year and I doubt he'll lose his spot.  He looks like he should be the 'real deal' and may well make our top 4 in the near future.   The problem continues to be 'lots of #4-6 guys and not enough 1 - 3"   Im not sure if JJ can be a top 3 guy just yet, maybe.

Looking forward to seeing him up with the big club. Im assuming the delay is that they are wanting him to work on a few things yet.  No way he's not already better than Morrow and Alzner already...

Elliott Friedman pointed out in his latest edition of "31 Thoughts" that Jerabek had a clause in his contract, which states that from a certain date, he can return to the KHL if he's not on the NHL roster.

A clause similar to the of Nikita Soshnikov of the Toronto Maple Leafs who were forced to call him up this week.

The sense i get is that he's willing to be a little patient.  I dont think he'd just up and leave, although we dont know if he's made any requests to the montreal management.

Considering what a mess our d corps is, it would be a real shame to let a puck moving dman go back to the KHL but i doubt it will get to that point. I suspect he'll be the first call-up when we need a Dman.  Sure would be nice to trade a couple of bodies back there though because we have way too many on the roster right now.

Are they trade-able tho?

I think there are some, but maybe not the ones we'd want to keep

IMHO:
Easily Tradeable:  Weber, Mete
Tradeable:  Petry, Davidson, Schlemko, Benn
Tough to trade:   Alzner, Morrow

I think the middle group could be traded relatively easily but would bring varying returns (ie, nothing major), even though Petry is good, I think he's generally undervalued in the same way Weber is overvalued (which is why i'd push to trade him in the next year or so).

Morrow would likely bring you nothing in return.  Alzner would be a very tough move. You'd have to bring back someone on a questionable contract.   I just wonder if it would be worth it anyway (if the guy returning was say, a winger we could use on the 3rd or 4th line or something) because Alzner does not fit our plans and if we keep using him as such, he will continue to lose value.   Also, he (and other guys) are keeping Jerabek off the roster.   I could actually see a team like LV or Edmonton valuing a player like Alzner.  Just dont know who we'd have to take back to make the cap $$ work.

Jerabek's is Dec 15th. Wonder if that coincides with a decision on Mete... if Schlemko's back and Jerabek (and Allan Walsh) force a call-up, then the Habs can't keep 9 defencemen.

Called up!

Per HEOTP  "its unclear if this is because Shea Weber is injured or if Victor Mete is being sent to Junior"

IMHO Mete should stay... Alzner should be sent to Junior, lol.

Well he's definitely earned a call-up and honestly i dont think they expected him to be in Laval that long, but yeah, i cant see this call up being a huge help unless he can somehow consistently manage minutes next to Weber from now on which is... doubtful.

Excited to see him play. Just hope that Jerabek called up and Schlemko getting healthy means Alzner, Morrow, or Davidson sit instead of Mete.

Yeah I think if our top 6 consisted of:

Weber
Petry
Mete
Jerabek
Schlemko
Davidson

it would be the best possible combination based on what we have at our disposal right now.

Agreed... the team is instantly better by getting Alzner out of the line-up. I'd actually prefer to see him sent to the Winter Classic alumni roster than anything else, to be honest! I'm okay with Benn or Davidson as the #6 guy, that's really not going to be what changes anything for us. If we can get better puck-movers in the top 4, that's what will make the difference. Sad that we need to count on two rookies to have any shot at that, but that's what happens when you build a brutal and slow defence corps the way Bergevin did.

What really still leaves me stunned is what we had! How can you take a defense corps with the potential to be that good & mess it up as badly as he did?? Before the PK trade we looked as if we had a roster that could be as good if not better than any habs' defense since the days of Chelios & co.

Even without McDonaugh, consider

Sergachev-Subban

Markov-Petry

Mete-Beaulieu

Pateryn or Jerabek

Way better, way more mobile, way more skilled, and way faster than what we have now, not to mention a younger D corps, most of which you could keep intact for severla years.

^^^^ Yup.  And the beauty thing is you would be well-established on the right so you could move that LD corps up and down as necessary. Maybe Sergachev isnt ready for #1LD minutes, so Markov plays there for a stretch, or even Mete etc.

Its just so sad to think what we had & what we have now with almost nothing (aside from Drouin and an aging Weber) to show for it.

Missed the game and don't feel like watching the entire thing again, how was he?

Looks like he came pretty close to scoring in OT.

I thought he was decent, especially given it was his 1st NHL game after a long travel day having played the night before. I think he'll get another game, just worried that with Schlemko/Weber back, it'll be Mete who sits or goes back to junior.
