And the longer this goes on, the more you have to think hard about whether Julien gets fired too. He's handicapped by that D and I doubt the Habs agree to pay a 3rd coach at the same time (also Bergevin's fault for that Therrien extension), but there are personnel problems and the back-to-back goals against so often falls somewhat on the coaching.

Call a cab for Bergevin

Take Dudley, Mellanby and Carriere with him .

You would think with all the guys he's got working in his front office someone could have smacked along the side of the head and said the D is terrible

The problem is that Bergevin has hired tons of guys, but they're all old-school people who are like-minded when it comes to grit/character/toughness/etc. They all likely want to build the team the same way. Trevor Timmins did an interview recently where he said he was told to avoid Americans by the Gainey/Gauthier duo and told to draft for size and toughness by Bergevin's regime. Timmins has also publicly said he wanted to draft DeBrincat and Sam Girard with the picks Bergevin dealt away for Shaw (both smaller guys). So clearly, Bergevin has his own ways about doing things and isn't listening for advice. The last guy who advised him on something against his way of thinking was Matt Pfeffer (the advanced stats guy who told him Subban for Weber was a big mistake), and Bergevin fired him for that.
