Clues
Claude Julien's troops play host to the hottest team in the league on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre - the Colorado Avalanche. Winners of 10 straight games - the second-longest win streak in franchise history - the Avalanche are coming off a 4-2 triumph over the Maple Leafs on Monday night in Toronto. Gabriel Bourque, Nail Yakupov, Blake Comeau and Gabriel Landeskog scored for Colorado, while Jonathan Bernier made 29 saves to earn his ninth straight victory. It's been nearly a month since the Avalanche came out on the wrong side of the scoresheet, with their last defeat coming all the way back on December 27. Key in their success has been the play of their top line of Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. MacKinnon currently ranks second in the league with 59 points (23 g - 36 a) in 46 games, just two points back of leader Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Canadiens, meanwhile, are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins over the weekend. Julien ran his group through a hard practice on Monday at the Bell Sports Complex in preparation for the tilt against Colorado. Following Monday's on-ice session, the veteran bench boss confirmed that both Andrew Shaw and Shea Weber would not be returning to the lineup ahead of the upcoming All-Star break. This marks the first of two meetings between Montreal and Colorado. They'll square off again on February 14 in Denver. Puck drop on Tuesday night is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on TV on TSN2 and RDS, and on the radio on TSN Radio 690 and 98,5 fm. https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/news/pregame-avalanche---canadiens---january-23/c-295205452
kinot-2
Thanks Clues, now let's get back to the winning/losing track. Former junior teammates Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin will be facing each other. They led the Halifax Mooseheads to the Memorial Cup in 2013. MacKinnon was the No. 1 overall pick in the NHL draft that year, while Drouin was No. 3. MacKinnon is No. 2 in the NHL scoring race with 23 goals and 59 points, two points behind Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov. MacKinnon was the NHL’s first star last week, with four goals and two assists in three games. Two of his goals were game-winners. Drouin has six goals and 22 points. He has one goal and four assists in his last 17 games.

BigTed3
Look at the Avs... they showed patience with a young star like McKinnon. They added a good draft pick in Jost. They've acquired other draft picks and prospects via trade (like Makar and Girard and so on) and suddenly things don't look as bad. They still have work to do, but as much as Sakic has screwed up and been criticized for it, he's shown patience and willingness to develop young players, and that type of philosophy pays off more than the strategy of picking up loose parts from other organizations. BigTed3
No urgency for anyone to get back. Unnecessary to give the Avs a shot there.

BigTed3
Pacioretty is on fire lately, but could it also be that Hudon has been a good fit for him? Pacioretty has always done well with guys who play hard, get on loose pucks, skate well, and do the leg work to set him up...

H_T_L
Figured out how to stream the NHL app to my new smart TV thinking it's going to be closer to live. What a disappointment,,,, it's 2 minutes slower then the computer feed. I might as well wait and watch game in an hour tonight at that rate.
