Game #73 ~ Montreal Canadiens @ Pittsburgh Penguins.Sat

Recommended Posts

The Canadiens close out the month of March by also closing out their season series with the Penguins on Saturday.

The Habs and Pens have already met twice in the last two weeks, on March 15 and 21, with Pittsburgh taking a 5-3 decision on each occasion.

The Canadiens briefly led in both games, before giving up the game winner in the third.

The Habs' last visit to Pittsburgh meanwhile, on March 21, saw the club eliminated from playoff contention.

More recently however, Montreal is coming off a 4-2 home win against Detroit on Monday. Brendan Gallagher lit the lamp twice against the Red Wings to hit the 30-goal plateau for the first time in his career, while Carey Price made 26 saves for the win.

Head coach Claude Julien confirmed on Friday that Antti Niemi and Price will split the work between the pipes over the weekend with a pair of back-to-back games scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. Niemi will get the nod in Pittsburgh, while Price will get the start when the Habs return home to host the New Jersey Devils at the Bell Centre on Sunday night.

Any other changes to the lineup in Pittsburgh will be known following the Habs' morning skate at PPG Paints Arena.

At the other end of the ice, the Penguins are coming off a 4-3 overtime win against the Devils on Thursday. Sidney Crosby scored the OT winner just 19 seconds into the extra frame, for his 28th goal of the season, and fifth in as many games.

The Pens are currently second in the Metropolitan Division with 94 points, five back of the Washington Capitals, with four games left to play.

Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Pittsburgh, and will be broadcast on SN360, TVA Sports, TSN690 and 98,5 fm in Canada.
