Galchenyuk traded for Domi

Habs desperately need a center. If you're trading AG, it had better be for a center or a LHD. We got neither, we got another winger, who is worse than AG and only a year younger. IMO, if the trade was AG for the 5th overall and Domi, I would have been okay with it. If it was AG and a 2nd rounder for that package, I would have thought about it twice but I could see it being fair. This deal is simply Bergevin getting jobbed yet again. What an awful job he's done as GM. Should have been fired 3 years ago.

My initial reaction is that this is a really bad trade. IMO Galchenyuk is a superior player to Domi, and we without a doubt should have gotten more.

I tend to agree here. I was hoping there was more than Domi. Arizona had one of the best records without Domi doing much in the second half. If we were moving Alex I was hoping it was for something more than the risk that comes with Domi. Can his dad possibly get worse father"s day gift. Just turned Ty into a Habs fan.

Just a strange deal. Domi is a fine player but he's worse than Galchenyuk and this just keeps happening. I don't think it's an insane fleecing or anything but the Habs just have to stop selling low on everyone all the time.

Subban > Weber

Eller > Shaw

Sergachev > Drouin

Galchenyuk > Domi

In isolation each deal isn't a huge loss but collectively it's just consistently bleeding value and in aggregate it's a big problem.

The more I think about it, the more I hate the deal. IMO Drouin and Galchenyuk are fairly interchangeable. So we essentially dealt Sergachev for Domi and the rest was pretty square. That's brutal. I'd have rather swapped AG for another top 10 pick and chosen a guy who could be useful to us. Enough with these terrible trades.

And like with all those deals, twitter universally seems to think we got screwed on the trade. Not only Habs fans, but the majority of other fans/media too. The sentiment is that the Habs easily should have gotten more.

Does this mean Zadina is our pick as we now appear to need a top line winger who can score and have freed up a little more cap space.

yea this team needs more cap space :4224:

So...

- we trade one of our few goal scorers for a guy who scores less

- the new team announces they'll give Galchenyuk a shot at center

- apparently we're set to announce a long-term extension for Domi this weekend

I've run out of hands to facepalm with.

Why not give him 8 years at the max? Nothing this guy does surprises me anymore. One idiotic move after another. If i'm Molson i'd be looking for my barf bag right about now.
