jwlk
"attitude" is just MB latest excuse, next years will be some other stupid issue, but if MB were commited to a rebuild you would think weber's name would be out there, it's possible MB is just a bad GM and really believes it was just the attitude not the lack of skill that lost him out last season

To me, it makes perfect sense to move Price (along with the others mentioned), and I believe it actually shortens the time that the team's re-build will actually take. I would be pleasantly surprised if Bergevin was actually thinking this way. Armia, Picks and the ability to get even more from a subsequent goaltender move is a fantastic return for Simon Bourque. Price has that monster contract which I'm not sure another team would want to take over. They may be stuck with him. I agree the others need to go. I dont think the return would be as good as we would hope, but I think there are teams out there that would happily take on that contract if they believe he will rebound. It would be smarter to actually let him do that, and then trade him, but then the knock is always once a player does rebound (like Giroux this year) the team wont want to trade him anymore. Noob616
Really like this trade. Habs basically paid 2.6M in cash to buy Armia, a 4th, and a 7th. Nothing huge but Armia isn't a trivial player and he fits in well in terms of age with the other core forwards. I know the response will be "why do we need another 3rd line winger" but Shaw's health is a big question mark and after Gallagher the Habs RW depth isn't really sparkling (although Byron is fine as a 2RW). I know people will be mad about a veteran blocking Scherbak but if he can't carve out a role and take a spot from Armia or Shaw in his 4th pro season after being over PPG in Laval you've got to wonder if he ever will. This. Scherbak is the only true offensive RW we have besides Gallagher. There should be no reason why he cant get a full time position in the top 6. Julien has shown he will give younger players a chance, so its up to NS now to prove he's higher up the depth charts than Armia or Shaw or whomever. BigTed3
Lehkonen can also play RW. Byron and Shaw are injured to start the year though. I think there will be room for Armia and Scherbak, although I still see a trade involving someone else to clear space being the optimal route. Not to protect Scherbak, but simply because we have an excess of wingers and so many holes elsewhere.

I wouldnt be surprised at all to see either Domi or Hudon at centre this year but i also wouldnt be surprised to see Drouin back at LW. In any case we're going to have to move some wingers or risk losing a few of them to waivers if nothing else.

I think there may be a capable #2 internally. Domi, Hudon - maybe Drouin (although I think he's better suited to a #1LW than a #2C) but without that guy who can match up against the other team's best, and who can take big, tough minutes every single night, i think we're in trouble. If you added a guy like Tavares for example, id be fine with Tavares - Domi/Hudon - Danault - Plekanec. But without that guy we're seriously undermanned. A guy like Statsny wouldnt have solved things except for being another #2. I think this year is going to be a mess anyway (if we have any success at all it will be in 2-1, 1-0 games) but moving forward maybe we have those guys in the system. Kotkaniemi has a very high ceiling and apparently Poehling was absolutely dominant at the prospects camp.
