That's a tough call ... if it comes down to Peca or Plekenec, I'd take Pleks every day .. Peca is unproven at the NHL level and if we're rolliing with Domi, Danault, Kotkaniemi as our C's then Pleks is our 4th line guy and Penalty Killer.   I'm not sure what "merit" you think Peca has ... what is, 23 career NHL games vs close to 1000 for Pleks?

You probably take Plekanec if you're a Cup contender and want a guy for one season. But I'd take Peca for the long haul. More growth potential there and he's been significantly better this pre-season. Plekanec would likely still be on the roster as the 13th-14th forward so not like he's going to the minors...

Sure, but then I don't think Peca figures into our long term game plan anyways ... if everything pans out we have Kotkaniemi, Suzuki and Poehling for Centers in the next 2-3 years with Domi and Drouin back on wing... Peca would be wasted on 4th line duties and I'm not sold he's NHL calibre.

Pleks on the other hand, you can ride him this year taking the minutes on the PK etc to soften the duties on Domi/JK/Danault and then replace Pleks next year with another grinder/4th line C who can kill penalties, rinse/repeat

Ive been watching every pre season gameso far and honestly Ive been impressed with peca.  I think hes definitely an NHLer and definitely been outplaying pleks by a mile.

honestly watching pleks for the last 2 years has been just painful. IMO hes totally useless at thispoint in his career and I think it was stupid to resign him and have him wasting a roster spot

im not sure what your trying to say about him being the 4th line guy going fwd....are you saying like if he actually pans out and becomes a good player its a waste hes on the 4th line?

Yes, since I don't think he would push Kotkaniemi, Poehling or Suzuki out of a spot ... unless we dealt one of those guys for a winger/d and Peca then settles in as the 3rd line guy.   He's is never going to be a top 6 forward.

Suzuki has been returned to Owen Sound.
