MONTREAL - Here are five things you need to know ahead of Thursday night's home opener against the Los Angeles Kings at the Bell Centre.

1. The Canadiens earned three out of a possible four points on their season-opening road trip to Toronto and Pittsburgh last week, before finally returning to the ice on Thursday night in front of the Bell Centre faithful for their home opener against Los Angeles. Head coach Claude Julien's squad is beginning a segment of four games in seven nights - all of which will be played on home turf.

2. It appears that Julien won't be making any lineup changes and sticking with the same group that offered up solid back-to-back efforts against the Maple Leafs and Penguins. That means that Tomas Plekanec and Nikita Scherbak will be healthy scratches up front again, while Karl Alzner will be the odd man out on the back end.

3. Six Habs will be making their home debuts, including forwards Joel Armia, Max Domi, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Matthew Peca and Tomas Tatar, along with defenseman Xavier Ouellet. Kotkaniemi's mother, Kati, will be in attendance to cheer her son on after making the 6,000 km trip from their family home in Pori, Finland to Montreal.

4. The Kings are coming off their first regulation loss on Tuesday night in Winnipeg, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Jets. Goaltender Jack Campbell made 37 saves in the loss, as starter Jonathan Quick is sidelined due to injury. Ilya Kovalchuk scored the lone goal for the Kings, his first since returning to the NHL ranks this season after a lengthy stint with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL.

5. Doors will open exceptionally at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats at 7 p.m. for a special pre-game ceremony, followed by puck drop at 7:30p.m.  The contest is available on TV on TSN2 and RDS, as well as on the radio on TSN 690 and 98,5 fm.

Love your GDTs Clues. :)

There will be a return of the '93 team that won the cup. A few of the old team will miss this ceremony because of prior commitments.

From John Lu: " Byron, Gallagher and Petry all pretty much confirmed Weber will be in full gear for tonight’s pregame ceremony, which Gallagher describes as “pretty cool” but couldn’t give away secrets about the content."

Johnathan Quick is injured and will not play. Jack Campbell gets the start.

great threat Clues.

This should be an interesting test:  Can our speed match up against one of the bigger teams in the league?   So far we've matched well against 2 fast teams but LA is the big lumbering "i wont go around you, i'll go through you" type.

I think we will do well but it should be interesting.

I'm always leery of these pre-game ceremonies, because the opponent is sitting in the room waiting, but the Habs will have to wait until the 2018-19 team is announced as well as the '93 team. I expect a sluggish start.

Puck drop is scheduled for 19:48, really.

tickets still available for tonights game ....

Their goalie has played 9 games, with a 948 SV% and 2.03 GAA...

Their goalie has been great though. That Campbell guy is no slouch. I don't see that as an advantage in the least

Kinda weird that we're honoring the '93 team with our opponent tonight, being the L.A. Kings, the same club we beat in the finals. :)

Habs tweet: The @BellCentre doors will open 30 minutes earlier than usual for tonight's home opener, at 5:30 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 7:00 p.m. You won't want to miss the pregame ceremony!

Yeah,,,, dumb planning in my books. Why would you want to aggravate your opponent like that?

CJ has changed up his PP units. Tonight we might see this:

"On the first unit we saw Tomas Tatar, Brendan Gallagher, Joel Armia, Jonathan Drouin and Jeff Petry. The interesting thing about this unit is that it was actually Gallagher who took on the center role while Drouin stayed on the point. Gallagher has been practicing his faceoffs recently at practice.

On the second unit we saw Matthew Peca, Max Domi, Andrew Shaw, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Victor Mete. On the second unit Domi took over at center while Kotkaniemi played the point."

Interesting. Well at least they are trying new things.  The one thing that worried me coming into this season was how Julien would adapt his system.  The knock was that he was an "old school coach."  Well, im not sure if he had help, took more input, or whatever but so far it looks like he's built a system that totally fits this roster.

Im curious to see what they do with Weber once he's back.  Right now they have a PMD on each PP unit and a playmaker on the other point.   If this system is successful, Weber would almost be better as a forward!
