kinot-2
TONIGHT, AT 7:00, NOT 7:30, THE HABS WILL ENTERTAIN US WITH A GAME VERSUS THE BLUES. How to watch Puck drop: 7:00 PM EDT / 4:00 PM PDT In Canada: Sportsnet One, RDS, Sportsnet Now In the Blues region: Fox Sports Midwest Elsewhere: NHL.tv/Rogers NHL Live The matchup: The Canadiens improved to 3-1-1 with their 7-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings Monday night and they hold down third place in the Atlantic Division. Montreal ranked 29th in offence last season, but following their outburst against the Red Wings, they are averaging 3.4 goals a game and currently rank 13th. The Blues are off to a disappointing 1-2-2 start after dropping a 3-2 decision to Anaheim on the weekend. The biggest problem for St. Louis has been its defence, which has given up an average of four goals a game to rank 27th in the NHL. Price slated for return: After battling the flu for the better part of a week, Carey Price is healthy again and he’s scheduled to start in goal for the Canadiens. He missed Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh and returned to serve as Antti Niemi’s backup Monday. Price has a 1-1-1 record with a 2.32 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. Montreal Juniors grad Jake Allen is the No. 1 goalie in St. Louis and he has struggled in the early going. He has a 1-1-2 record with a 4.13 goals-against average and an .879 save percentage. Tatar on a roll: Newcomer Tomas Tatar is fast becoming a crowd favourite with his willingness to go into the dirty areas to create offence. He had two goals and an assist Saturday against Pittsburgh. He faced his former team Monday night and he showed the Red Wings what they were missing when he had another three-point night with a goal and two assists. Tatar, who was acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights as part of the deal for Max Pacioretty, leads the Canadiens with seven points in five games. Balanced offence: Claude Julien has been rolling four lines and each line has contributed to the offence. The No. 1 line of Tatar, Phillip Danault and Brendan Gallagher has scored six of Montreal’s 17 goals. The second-most productive line? That has been the fourth line with Charles Hudon, Tomas Plekanec, Matthew Peca and Andrew Shaw combining to score four goals. Tatar, Gallagher and Paul Byron share the team lead with three goals each. Shaw missed Monday’s game because of the flu. He practiced with the extra forwards Tuesday and will probably take another day of rest. Schwartz eyes return for Blues: St. Louis received some good news Tuesday when forward Jaden Schwartz returned to practice after missing two games with a bruised foot. Schwartz was sidelined after he was struck on the boot by a shot from teammate Vladimir Tarasenko. It was the latest in a series of injuries that have left the Blues short-handed up front. They had only 11 healthy forwards for weekend games against Chicago and Anaheim. Schwartz will wait for final clearance Wednesday morning, but is expected to join David Perron and Brayden Schenn on the top line. There's some discussion that Alzner might play. The speculation seems to have come from Mete who was among the last to leave the ice, which usually means they wont play that night. In this case its not performance based - there is some thought that Mete may have the flu that Price & Shaw had... I think a sick Mete may still be better than a healthy Alzner. Mete' has the most goals against 5 on 5, on the team,,,,,, 6, so that might have something to do with it.

Could it be that Alzner is bigger that Mete' and could possibly handle the bigger Blues forwards better?
