With 16 points through 12 games, the Canadiens sit right behind Tampa Bay in the Atlantic division and host the Lightning Saturday looking to overtake them in the standings. Montreal is ready for the 'huge test' of handling the Bolts' high-octane offence. Tomas Plekanec, who has missed the last six games with a back injury and was placed on the injured-reserve list, took part in the Canadiens’ morning skate. The Canadiens (7-3-2) ranked 12th in the NHL in offence heading into Saturday night’s game, scoring an average of 3.25 goals per game, and ranked eighth in defence, allowing an average of 2.75. They ranked 24th on the power play (15.6 per cent), 17th in penalty-killing (78.0 per cent) and 30th in faceoffs (44.6 per cent). Max Domi was leading the Canadiens in scoring heading into the game with 6-6-12 totals, followed by Tomas Tatar (3-8-11), Brendan Gallagher (9-1-10), Jeff Petry (1-9-10) and Jonathan Drouin (3-5-8). They ranked eighth on the power play (27.9 per cent), first in penalty-killing (93.3 per cent) and 18th in faceoffs (49.6 per cent). Brayden Point led the Lightning in scoring heading into the game with 7-7-14 totals, followed by Nikita Kucherov (5-7-12), Yanni Gourde (4-8-12), J.T. Miller (3-7-10) and Tyler Johnson (5-4-9). Talented team to get in a run and gun game with tonight. The team will have to be good defensively and make sure the forwards are backchecking hard. We definitely have to stay out of the box!!!
