WE'RE OFF TO THE LEFT COAST TONIGHT.

Nov 17 7:00 PM ET    Montreal @ Vancouver   HNIC, TVAS, TSN 690

The Game

Goalie Carey Price will try to build on a strong performance when the Montreal Canadiens play Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Saturday.

Price made 43 saves in a 3-2 win against the Calgary Flames on Thursday, his first start in a week. Price backed up Antti Niemi in the two games before that after going 1-3-1 with an .854 save percentage in his previous five starts.

Montreal has won two of its past three games after losing three of the previous four.

Goalie Jacob Markstrom is expected to start for Vancouver after Richard Bachman made his first start since April 9, 2017, in a 6-2 loss at the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. It was the fourth straight loss for the Canucks, who are coming off a 1-3-2 road trip.

Can we get a complete team effort tonight for 60 minutes?

It was a pretty common thing the first 10 games or so. Lately it's been a period, and that's stretching it.

That's because we weren't using Deslauriers, Alzner, Schlemko, 1st-pairing Benn, etc. to start the year. Not sure there's been a drop-off in effort so much as a drop-off in talent. When you remove Byron and Armia and sit someone like Reilly/Juulsen/Mete, even though those guys aren't are top players, it takes away the advantage we have of having depth and being able to roll 4 lines that skate well. That wears down the other team. As it stands, we have shifts with our 4th line where we get completely hemmed in and lose all momentum. We have problems with our D not moving the puck up ice. Our PP stinks. And we're taking too many dumb penalties (again, with the 4th line being responsible for more than their fair share of these).
