The Canadiens held a full morning skate at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard, but we'll have to wait until closer to puck drop to see if there are any lineup changes. That's because forward Tomas Tatar skipped the on-ice session with flu-like symptoms, but head coach Claude Julien wouldn't rule him out for the game. Julien did say that Paul Byron wouldn't be available against the Ducks, but that tests revealed he did not suffer a fracture and will be day-to-day. The Habs bench boss said there has been no change in Andrew Shaw's status; he is still awaiting medical clearance to return. Carey Price was in the starter's net for the morning skate in Brossard.
The Ducks may be third-last in the Western Conference, but they're only three points out of a playoff spot. They're in the midst of a five-game road trip that began following the All-Star break. After losing 9-3 in Winnipeg on Saturday, Anaheim played in Toronto last night and lost 6-1, with Rickard Rackell scoring the lone goal for the Ducks. John Gibson got the start, but was pulled with 14 minutes to go in the third. It was the third straight game that Gibson started but didn't finish; expect to see Chad Johnson between the pipes in Montreal.
