BUT... there are plenty of 2nd-year players who have suffered the sophomore jinx, so that's not a given. Latendresse was the next big thing as a rookie and then went downhill from there. Galchenyuk never really hit the potential he could have. Lehkonen had a tough time in year 2. There are lots of examples of guys who take a step back as youngsters. Conversely, there are players who play well one year and you wonder if it was a fluke and then they keep getting better (Gallagher, for example, surprised me with how steady he's been). Maybe Domi can follow suit. And there are veterans who have bad years and then step it up the following year with big improvements over their previous campaign (like Price last season, for example). So not so sure you can just vote for the younger player here... we'll see, but I think you'll see votes for different guys.

BigTed3
My votes, FWIW: - Domi - Petry (tough one b/c I think both guys played near peak form last year, but wondering if the Habs can get D help on the left if that stabilizes things for Petry a bit and makes him even better) - Mete (another tough call b/c Byron had a down year last year, but Mete has got a ton of potential and he's got to score at some point...) - Kotkaniemi

I think this choice was actually very close for me and could be argued either way. I chose JK because I personally feel like when he has the puck, I have more anticipation that he's going to make a spectacular play than I do with Petry. Some of the passes or plays to get open he made last year were mind-boggling in terms of how much skill he displayed. But I do get that Petry is a good skater with the puck and provides offensive flare for a D man. Could have gone either way for me...

BigTed3
Your final is Kotkaniemi vs. Domi. And the question is... Which player will be the better Montreal Canadien over the next 5 years? I don't think the answer is that obvious, so this could be an interesting vote to determine the winner. VOTE NOW! I think this is really close, in the next 1-2 years I think Domi has the edge while KK develops on the other hand in year3 they will be quite equal with KK pulling ahead in years 4-5 unless KK develops quicker than expected. I say a marginal win for KK.

H_T_L
Tough question. Both are young guys and i'd say Domi is ahead right now but KK has the potential to be better IMO. I suppose I have to go with the experience and pick Domi
maas_art
yup. impossible question. ill pick domi just because i think he'll be better for years 1-2 for sure and maybe year 3 too. I think after that JK should be better but its still a question mark. Domi has proven what he can do, JK tantalizes us with what is likely a sure thing but still. Domi by a hair.
